Title: Question on filling holes in wood CP

OK here is the deal...  I have a control panel that was pre drilled with 20 button holes, a trackball cutout in the direct center, joystick holes (with screw holes) and a spinner cutout designed for an Oscar spinner.  Being that they are no longer in business, it is useless.  Button holes and joystick holes are the same size, and the screw holes are obviosly small.  Trouble is, I do not like the button and joystick layout.  Is there something like at Home Depot that can patch the holes and be strong enough once sanded and painted to be re-driller slightly offset if needed?  I am almost tempted to cut the entire top off and start from scratch.  I know various vendors sell button hole plugs that screw in, and that is not what I am looking for.  I want to remodel the control panel, not just plug holes and redrill them somewhere else.  Thanks in advance.

get a sheet of MDF and a flush trim router bit and start over. itll be way faster/easier/better

I'm with milkit, I would just start over.  I will add a tip from a carpenter friend you could try if you are adamant to try to save this panel.  Bondo.  Yup, even for wood.  If you're going to paint it, it cures quicker, sands easier and paints better then wood fillers.
