Title: TaitoRama - New & finished project
Post by: lokesen on May 14, 2010, 02:57:02 am
This i my latest design.

I made it with my brother who wanted a cabinet looking something like the Taito Jungle Hunt, but with a smaller footprint. Then I designet the cabinet and control panel in Autocad. He build the cabinet himself and designed the Artwork.

To see all the pictures and info, visit my homepage here:

Woring Drawings and control panel drawings finally online. Get them here:
TaitoRama Drawings (http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/drawtaitorama.htm)

I hope to have the drawings and artwork ready to download in a day or two.

Nice job. Is that all painted MDF or laminate. If it's painted, that's a great paintjob!

I went to your site to see the rest of the pictures and I gotta say that the CPO is very inspiring (that the tilted lines go through the button holes especially). I might have to steal that idea the next time I design a CPO.

Bravo. I really enjoy this design, even if it makes me envious of your metal CP  >:D

Thanks, but remember, I only designed the cabinet and control panel, my brother did the excellent artwork and we found the inspiration from the classic Taito Jungle Hunt cabinet together :)

Very nice cabinet!  Clean and stylish.  :applaud:

I forgot to say, it's too bad the artwork stripes don't continue up the bezel, and somehow connect to the marquee.  That would look cool, me thinks. But (again), that's me being nit-picky...

A Lokesen cab that's laminated with T-Molding? I've got one of those, I can wholeheartedly recommend it  ;)

This design is awesom! Very retro! I Like the lines on the CP. :applaud:
I like your buildings a lot! That's why I used one of your cabs as an example. Keep up the good work dude!

Hey lokosen,
Great cab! Loving the artwork - what font did you use for the marquee's TAITO-RAMA?

Thanks for the nice comments about my arcade, makes me want to build another. I agree that the stripes shold continue up the bezel for a more coherent look. I have also planned to add the classical Taito sideart in matching colors. I'll keep you posted ;)

Now for the question about the font used in the bezel. I haven't used a specific font. I was heavily inspired by the Bomb Jack Marquee and manually redrew some of the letters in Illustrator in order to form TaitoRama.

Bumping another old fav for #makeBYOACgreatagain

Notice how these greats have proper themes and names that don't include "cade", "retro" or "Pi" in them?
