How's the Mortal Kombat button configured? From the few times that I tried playing it, it's something like:
HK HP BL
LP LK
My CP is std Mame
1 2 3
4 5 6
But I don't think Mortal Kombat maps the buttons in the same sequence.
Am I making any sense?

I don't know how MAME is configured off the top of my head. But here's a pic of a Mortal Combat CP for reference
Xar256 ;D

If I remember right, MK is mapped like this:
1 2
3
4 5
So you have to remap the keys for all of the MK games.
I changed the button mapping as follows:
1: HP
2/5: Block
3: HK
4: LP
6: LK
So that either middle button (2/6) will block and the outside buttons are correct. Don't remember the actual keyboard keys represented though.

That's how I plan to remap mine as well. There are only 3 or 4 MK's in MAME, anyways. (I don't remember if there are seperate ROMs for MK3 and UMK3).

MK3 is the parent and ultimate is listed under it....Still play it..Ermac is the shizzle.

Dont forget that Mortal Kombat 3 had a run button.
This is part of the reason why i went with the 7 button NEo geo setup. The run button was in the sames spot so you can mash it with your thumb.

Thanks very much gndprx! Will remap tonite.
Man, that game took me back to my college days when the original MK came out. Used to spend hours skipping class playing that game at the student union hall.

I've never been a big fan of that run button... I think that's why every MK after MK2 just wasn't as good. That and the stupid combos. (As for characters, I'm a Smoke fan. In fact, e's the only guy I know the moves for!)

Newbie ;D Dont you have a world to explode. lol

Newbie? Hardly... If I had more interest in the game I mave have chosen a more challenging character. Like I said, I lost interest after MK2.

Here's what I found out tonite on the configuration of MK buttons. Assuming the following default Mame button layout
1 2 3
4 5 6
Go into the game specific inputs, you'll see in order:
P1 Button 2
P1 Button 3
P1 Button 1
...
P1 Button 4
P1 Button 5
P1 Button 3
I set as follows:
P1 Button 2 = Mame 1
P1 Button 3 = Mame 2
P1 Button 1 = Mame 3
P1 Button 4 = Mame 4
P1 Button 5 = Mame 6
P1 Button 3 = Mame 5
So I end up like this:
HP BL HK
LP BL LK
MK's button layout is:
2 1
3
4 5

played Deadly Alliance yet. its console only, but i luv that game. my fav mortal kombat yet. the diff fighting styles really is awesome, and its the first game i can impale someone with a sword and the sword stays in the body hurting them.
