Post by: WhereEaglesDare on May 09, 2010, 10:43:43 am
This is kinda picking up where this left off...

I didnt read the whole thing since I dont have any of the parts yet, but my question is if I pair a wiimote with a MAME Cab can I use it as a light gun?  From what I understand AIMTRAK works similar as the wiimote, so....

your thoughts?

I tried it, bought the plastic wii gun holders and it was pretty aweful.. Tough to setup, crap accuracy. Losses sync.. It's lousy..

But maybe someone else has had better experiences..

I'm going to get the new full complete guns with aim track from Andy at ultimarc..

Ultimarc.. Yeah I said it..

Wish the aimtrak was wireless, but other than that , it sure sounds like a better solution. I've had nothing but trouble with getting my wiimote to work with a PC.

I know some people have had decent luck. Might just be the combination of bluetooth dongle, BT stack, etc that I've got.

Wiimote makes an aweful light gun, wii or PC with BT dongle you won't get the same thing as a real light gun.

The light gun makes that you know where you shoot, that's what is computed.

The wiimote doesn't. It "moves" just like a mouse, but with different interface.

If you'd play gun games with a joystick or a trackball, then the wiimote might be satisfactory, otherwise its a disapointment waiting to happen.

unless of course there's a "good way" of calibrating it?
