Does anyone know of any UK-based printers of marquees/overlays,etc? Since Nigel at arcadestickers disappeared I find myself without a decent supplier. I am in the process of going through printers/design shops in my area (Brighton) but have drawn a blank so far.
I know I can go to mamemarquees or whatever, but shipping is still heavy. If anyone else is ordering from the states maybe we can combine shipping to a single UK address and forward from there? Just a thought.

hi, i work within the print and design sector and maybe able to help out, let me know what sort of thing you are looking for and i will see what i can do.

Any chance of going public with the quote, or maybe laying down some prices for generic sizes?
cheers
-

Would be interested to find out prices.
-

Could you take a look at [this (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83312.msg1032392#msg1032392)] CPO/instruction space graphic.
I have aready have it printed but it would be interesting to see how your prices would compare.
A self adhesive vinyl print of that file would have cost £12 delivered. The polycarb laminate self adhesieve vinyl print cost me £23 delivered.

Could you give me a little more information on those prices please:
Where from?
what dimensions?
Forgive my ignorance, but is polycarb laminate self adhesive the tough stuff for use on control panels without a covering layer?
Thanks
-
It was from Nigel @ arcadestickers.co.uk, I'm not sure if he still operational or has gone AWOL.
The image was 637mm wide IIRC, you can scale the height to suit.
Yes, Polycarb laminate is a tough, thin and textued top layer that protects the artwork.
This is not to be confused with a Polycarbornate (Lexan or other brand names) plastic that is sometimes (wrongly) used to cover artwork.
If you are going to cover it with a plastic sheet use Acrylic (Plexiglass etc) and not Polycarb (Lexan etc)

been re doing my figures and currently vinyls was coming in around the £15.80 mark, but looking into it more i could push the price down to the £12.00 mark also.

I've been talking to a vinyl printer here in Brighton. I sent him a spare marquee that nigel@arcadestickers did for me - he said it was printed on backlit polyester, which was something he didn't stock. Bummer. He can do all other self-adhesive types of vinyl though. Unfortunately he's away for the next month, but on his return I will be getting some sample pieces printed with him. Will keep you posted.
-
good man, what happened to nigel?
-
I have no idea. One minute all was cool, the next he's disappeared. Real shame as his stuff was excellent and good value for money too.

I found Nigel Cave from arcadestickers:
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/monkey-online/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/monkey-online/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686)
scroll down to the bottom and have a look at the Business Seller Information drop-down.
I've sent him a message via eBay to see if he's still doing custom artwork, will let you know what happens.
-
Ah good stuff.
I bought some die cut Capcom stickers from 'Monkey Online' for my marquee holders and he signed one of his emails as Nigel so I figured it may be him.
Let us know what he says about custom work.
-
Nothing from Nigel as yet, surprise surprise, but I have got some (hopefully) great news. I've been speaking to a new company here in Brighton today and they've given me this quote:
1) Tron Mini Bezel 300mm x 218mm
vinyl print with cut out £6.50
2) Tron Mini Marquee 457mm x 142mm
backlit polyester material digital print £9.50
I've gone ahead and ordered - apparently they'll be ready tomorrow late afternoon, so I will let you all know as to the quality ASAP. I'll try to get a sample of the polycarb laminated vinyl for CPO's when I collect the pieces.
Let's hope this is a new quality artwork vendor for us poor beggars in the UK.....
-
Excellent news!
Could you please ask about shipping rates?
Thanks
-
Of course Jimmy, as soon as I get the artwork and confirm it's of good quality.

Just received my artwork from Weeza Graphics here in Brighton. Have installed the marquee which is printed on backlit polyester flim - the print is nice and crisp, colours look fine.
Only thing is that with the marquee light on, the marquee appears a bit 'washed out', but I think this is due to my led lights being a bit close to the marquee. I may also try some 'opal' acrylic instead of clear for the rear part of the arcylic 'sandwich'. Opal acrylic is white but lets light through. I will pick up some tomorrow.
As for the bezel, I haven't peeled off the protective layer apart from a little corner. It looks fine to me, and the screen cutout is perfect. I need to get a sheet of clear acrylic to cover it which I'll pick up tomorrow too.
The bezel (457x385mm, print & cut vinyl) was £6.50, the marquee (457x142mm, print backlit poly) was £9.50.
The company can be found at http://www.weezagraphics.co.uk (http://www.weezagraphics.co.uk) - email luisa@weezagraphics.co.uk - phone 01273 690770.
(Jimmy2x2x, I forgot to ask about postal costs, but drop her an email (mention Ian the Tron guy from Brighton!) - she's really nice to deal with)
Will post some better pix when my camera is charged...
-
Thanks for the info Shrunkenmaster, did you manage to light your marquee any better, or does it still look a little washed out?
Any pics of the bezel please?
Thanks for all your efforts in the desolate UK!

hey guys, i'm in the same boat. looking for a printer for a control panel overlay in the UK.
i made a custom design and check the pricing a few places.
http://www.gameongrafix.com/ (http://www.gameongrafix.com/) do custom printing and all in ( including shipping ) it comes to around £40 but that's too pricey for me right now.
i checked with two UK based control panel printers and got ridiculous quotes for the same exact thing coming in at around £90 - £120 .. and i tried monkey_online but he seems to have had enough of all the custom cpo jobs.
i'm at the point where i'd be happy with a plain black CPO. :dunno
can anyone suggest a good CPO printer or sell me a good/plain generic one?
