Dont understand this issue,
Its just on my laptop, i run vista and in control panel it shows the controller and shows the button presses but when trying to config it in mala or mame it just won't map any button presses.

Use this tool: Paul's (pjpoirier@hotmail.com) JoyIDs
It shows you what id your joystick is set to and allows you to change it (handy for MaLa)

Be aware that if you have multiple joysticks of the same type, JoyIDs will not show you any difference between the two in listing them. You can use the utility to change ID's (even via batch), but if there is no difference between them in the program, you won't be able to do much other than switch them and hope you get it right. I have this issue with my Logitech gamepads.
