I was watching this 80s movie (hello mary lou prom night II) with my fiance and there's this song playing at the prom.. She wants that song, I've searched for hours, all I could find was this clip someone else posted on Youtube asking the same question.. here's the clip.. song starts playing 20 seconds in
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2 (the dance) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcLb3JKnxqU#)

you know at the end of the movie they play all those names and stuff...credits? near the end is a section with all the music they used in the movie (sometimes even ones that get cut during editing)
download or rent the movie and roll teh credits!

holy crap! I actually have this dvd! never watched it. ill pop it in and see what the credits bring me...
edit: it's always nice to give something back to teh innernetz. Here's every song in the credits:
Hello Mary Lou - Rick Nelson
Mary Lou - Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks
Tutti Frutti - Little Richard
Queen of the senior prom - Mills Brothers
Little Darlin - The Diamonds
My monies on 'Queen of the senior prom' ;)
-
Unfortunately it isn't any of those songs.. I had already checked the IMDB site..
Thanks for checking though! I saw it on television and they cut the credits, I was contemplating if I should go out and buy the dvd just to see them. I wonder if it's even a real song.
I might just buy it anyways, it actually wasn't that bad.. well, at least the best out of the prom night series.. and I also liked that it wasn't a direct sequel to the first. Had some funny scenes and borrowed from other horror films (carrie, nightmare elm street, exorcist)
Did you end up watching it danny_galaga?

Kinda reminds me of Tears for Fears or Killing Joke.... but then a lot of bands in the 80's had that sound.
Do you have an iPhone? Use Shazam to identify the song. There's a fairly long part of it with no talking or other noise.

Hey that's a good idea! Thanks man, I'll check it out and see what happens.

I hope this helps: The song is still playing every time they cut back to the prom:

I went straight to the credits. So if you want to buy/hire it just to see the credits, what i've posted is what you'll see. They are the only songs in the credits...
I bought it as a double prom night/prom night II. I figured a movie with Leslie Nielsen and Jamie Lee Curtis in it has gotta be fun (",)
Ok, I've watched them both now
"Got any more mints? you're breath smells great!" :duckhunt
Exorcist, it aint. hehe. I even saw a boom mike in the second movie. but you know, I've been feeling down lately, and it's strange how old B movies can pick up you up again! They're so bad, they're good! I might have to unwrap a few more i've got sitting on the shelf. "Flight to fury" might be next on the agenda (",)

Just had a thought. The tunes that aren't credited in both of these movies might be done by the guy who did the original music. In this case, by a guy named Paul Zaza. I bet he wrote that tune...
edit: a starting place might be http://www.paulzaza.com/ (http://www.paulzaza.com/)
another thing to look for is the soundtrack, but i dont fancy your chances, seems to be soundtracks for prom night 1,3 and 4...

V CAST Song ID is stumped.

I spent way too much time trying to solve this puzzle, and I think the music director is in fact the only route to go now. Here's why: Listening to those two videos above I was able to make out some of the lyrics and then Google them. Couldn't find anything matching (or the results were too vast). In the second vid, the words "you're just under pressure" is clear enough that it's likely not a case of mis-hearing. That phrase in Google brings up NOTHING.
The song is either so obscure it was never popular enough to warrant "the internets" transcribing the lyrics, or it was made for the movie. I'd bet on "obscure", since it sounds too good to be made up for a few minutes of a Canadian horror movie. (That's another clue. The song could be Canadian).

Yes that is exactly what I was thinking! I was hoping it was just a rare 80s band. But I figured it would probably end up coming down to having to contact Paul. I was reading this interview about the music he did in his movies but unfortunately he didn't mention anything about this song.. but yeh I actually have quite a big collection of these type of songs.. 'song that was made only for a movie' genre or whatever you would like to call that..

LOL Yeh man me too. I googled that same phrase! Then word played with it for hours, switchin'm around, exact phrase match, etc... Tried making out some of the other lyrics but didn't get much. Think I heard "You amaze me" somewhere in there.. I even searched forums for popular Canadian 80s bands, Canadian 80s one-hit-wonders, etc.. no luck
V CAST Song ID is stumped.
Thanks for checkin! My friend was too busy all week and I couldn't get him to come over for a song check
Here's to having to do everything yourself:
Hello Paul,
I apologize if you have been inundated with e-mails about this topic lately.
I participate on an arcade forum that's generally obsessed with everything 1980's and the song played during the prom scenes of "Hello Mary Lou Prom Night II" has been a matter of considerable debate.
Is this an actual commercially released song or something composed for the movie? Is it possible to obtain a full length copy of this song?
Thank you,
James
Did you send that out to him?? Or were you just joshin? If you didn't I'll just copy and paste it then send it to him ;D
EDIT: nvrmnd, emailed him
Once again thanks guys for the help

Thank you for your enthusiasm. I'm looking into the song you are requesting. I'm sorry I don't remember it right now but I'll research it this weekend. Do you have any more clues for me? A lyric? a line?
Soon,
Paul J. Zaza

This guy from my work who used to DJ back in the 80's, showed him the clip and it took him a while but he remembered the name of the band. I'm so bummed though because when I went on Youtube to post the answer to that clip, someone beat me to it 4 months ago :banghead:
Guess I should've checked there first
