Hello
I am looking at getting an Original xbox and converting it into a arcade. I am wondering what are some of the best games to get for the system to play with an arcade stick? Anyone provide suggestions I would appreciate it very much. Thanks

I am getting it modded and going to add all the emulators. Wondering what XBOX games would work best with an arcade stick. I have found several compilation ie) street fighter etc, others are just arcade games you can get on mame.
Also what are some good arcade games for PSX emulator?

The LEGO Star Wars games are excellent.

DOA, Soul Calibre 2 are great games for a cab.
Lookout for CoinOPS Ignite X as it has all the best console emulators, and perfect for a cabinet, especially for joysticks.

Outrun 2, Outrun 2006, Crazy Taxi 3, and House of The Dead 3 come to mind amongst various fighting games.

Also wondering if I get the stock HD, can I connect a USB external drive and run games off it? if so any tutorial how? Does it work any good?

No, any HDD would have to be internally installed.

A lot of dashboards will only support the local HDD for games (Or optical drive), more over the only USB ports on the Xbox1 are the gameports which are really USB1.1 ports. They are slow as hell.
Put the HDD inside the Xbox. Transfering games is easy because like every dashboard supports FTP. So you can dump games on over LAN pretty easily.

I think you have this confused with the Xbox360.
Apparently you can use USB Pen/Hdd with the Xbox 360 to play games like on the Xbox HDD.
I have not tried this out, but if it works, will really make my week.

If it could be done technicly, it would be terrible due to the the USB ports being USB 1.1 ports. The loading times would be so slow and could possibly interfer with some or even many games.

Yes it can be done, but you would have to seriously mod the Xbox to allow this feature to work.
The simplest scenario where this would fit, would be to strip the xbox and modify the HD drive bay to accommodate a hot swap caddy. The Xbox system files would have to be present in all external caddies.
Plugging in a USB would be problematic and terribly slow as it is USB 1.1, where a SATA interface and a sata dock could be possible also with some modification to the case to provide the port (and a switch).
I would not bother with that trouble and just hard mod the xbox and put a TB drive and call it a day. ;D
