Just curious to see if anyone here used Litestep (http://www.litestep.net/)(shell replacement) in their cabinet ?

Would it really be worth the bother? Most cabs, people don't want the shell ever showing, so they use a front end like mala or hyperspin, etc, and boot directly into it.

Did you have some other idea in mind?

I thought about using Litestep to hide windows and use a virtual desktop module to switch between the frontend and maybe a pop up menu or folder  in order to upgrade or install new software .

Hmm. I'd probably just stick a menu option in somewhere under one of your game lists to exit the front end and drop you back to Windows. That would keep it simple.

Then, your normal front end exit would shut the machine down, but this alternate exit would just terminate the front end.

If the front end doesn't support that directly, you could always just use a little bat file to kill the process.
