Before you ask the round holes are for really large game tokens!
No actually I didnt want to add a useless coin door. So I will likely do a Knievel style neon image in one, A glossy image behind one and stay tuned for the other as I have something new planned. btw these will run Ubuntu Linux! Already have it working on a couple CPUs.
-
Noo!!!
That hole needs to be a one on one basketball target!, with a switch in there to give you credits when you score!
;)
-
How about "the good the bad and the ugly" Not meaning that you have one machine och each.
Interesting project BTW.
-
I thought the holes were the return for the basketball when playing the hoops game at the arcade. I have my coin door hanging wide open for ventilation currently. Almost wish I would of avoided that authenticity too.
-
ooh i thought it backs as a washing machine so you can play while you wait.
Awesome looking cabs would of taken a bit of time to build all three.
-
Snap, crackle and pop (comon... rice crispies)
Alvin, Simon, Theodore (chipmunks)
Huey, Duey, Louie (Donald Duck's nephews)
ed, edd and eddy (gaming trio)
Sex, drugs & rock n roll
dawn, dusk, night
...
-
Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria...
Christopher Columbus FTW!!!!!!!
:D
-
Name them arcade #1, #2, and #4... :burgerking:
-
Sterling Malory Archer
-
Actually, I don't plan on keeping them together.
-
I'd say choose your three favorite genres and decorate them accordingly. For me, one would be Fighting, the next would be shooter, the last would be Puzzle.
-
a little Progress, monitors, speakers all mounted, lighting done in two.

I've been workign on mounting the Metal CP's today. But most of my day got eaten up by a bean bag toss project for my church.

Love it, just wondering if the buttons are vertically spaced to far apart.
-
Yeah I used 2" on center. Next time I will reduce that.

Yeah I used 2" on center. Next time I will reduce that.
I used 1.5" center-to-center on my CP. I think that's the same as the "dedicated" SF2 CE cabs.
The larger spacing you used may work better on other games though, since you'd be less likely to hit the wrong button. I've done that a few times during frantic sessions of Metal Slug.
The orange and blue looks great BTW. Of course, I'm a bit biased being a Broncos fan. I could see a John Elway's Quarterback theme on that cab!
-
More painting.

Sorry, I slowed down a bit. Its 113 in Vegas!

Finished the t-molding. I've decided on a Galaga tribute, a Donkey Kong Tribute and Generic orange Mame.
-
I think that orange is absolutely gorgeous. It looks really sweet. :applaud:
Edited to add:
Nice to see another builder using Ubuntu. I'm a huge fan of arcade cabs that are penguin powered. It makes so much sense. No CPU/Memory overhead for antivirus software, MAME works exactly the same on 'nix as it does under windows, Wah!Cade makes a great front end and it's free.
-
Well its cooler now in Vegas, so back to the projects. Just got some graphics from GameOnGrafix.com so maybe i'll get some thing done this weekend.

is it just me or is the panel on the orange one crooked?
-
My wife would :censored: if she came home to 3 in the garage....awesome...other guy was right, what a concept, get the wifey involved and put a washinig machine in the arcade...I like the idea you have for the hole, that definately will look awesome, i like the orange with the blue t-molding, looks great, would look nice in my hunting cabin in Tennessee, anywhere else, probably a no-go, but I like it and would be proud to have it as a centerpiece in the living room,,,,if only it were always what I want.
did you build these or buy them or what?
cool post man, look forward to more.....
-
Brilliant Idea! Can't wait for you to mount the urinals!
-
Nah, I've been building them. Turns out its taking all year. (Mostly cause I stop in the summer. Cause its too hot in Vegas to work in the garage.) Urinals, ha hilarious but mame supports pause so were covered there. The CP is not latched into place so it looks crooked.
-
Nearly 3 Years Later.... One is finished.

:applaud: :applaud: Although I hope that it is just the photo and that the vibrant orange hasn't really turned into a salmon pink :laugh2:
-
Well Nine years have passed. Time to finish the second one...LOL

That's a level of procrastination that I could only dream of reaching!
-
Just curious, did you get one finished and end up playing that the whole time instead of finishing the siblings?
I'm also curious what color/brand of paint you used for the blue one? It's similar to the blue I want to use on mine, but I've had a tough time finding a matching color in the Behr line so far.
Please post some more pics of the Galaga inspired cab, it's sweet!
-
I got busy with other projects. The Blue is ms-pacman Blue I had left over. The Blue one will be a Donkey Kong tribute hopefully I will get to it this year. I switched the plan from Ubuntu to Raspberry Pi. Here are a few more pics. The lower Alien is backlit with LEDs from Sams Club. https://www.samsclub.com/p/15in-ceiling-light-2-pack/prod22740315?xid=plp_product_1_7. (I had to melt it flat though.)
-
Love the spaceship disc. Slick looking control panel too. Is that a spinner to the right of your Pause button?
I didn't realize how old this thread was when I first read it, until you mentioned Knievel! ;D
-
Its a panel mounted USB plug.

Ah! I hadn't seen one with a cap like that before. I've added that to my buy list, thanks!
-
Three years later.... number 3 is finally done.
