Title: Need help to identify a monitor
Post by: kalarcana on April 29, 2010, 12:03:30 am
I've been reading through threads, using the search function, and even trying Google.....but, I still need some help.  I'm looking at making a MAME cabinet.  I have found 2 arcade games for sale locally.  They are "Lord of Gun" and "Radikal Biker."  I have not been able to get any information from the company selling the games yet.

My plan is to get the game with the best/largest monitor.  The secondary part is to use the cabinet and any controls that would work.  Again though I'm looking at the monitor since shipping for an arcade monitor to Alaska is almost the price of the monitor itself.

The only information about the games that I have found online are that both games are horizontal and both have 60 Hz refresh rates.  Can anyone help me identify what the stock monitor would be in these games?  I'm still waiting to hear back from the company selling them so I can go down there and take a look at the games.  So, until I hear back from them I'm trying to gather as much information as possible.

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you for your time.

The problem is many arcade game manufacturers will use several different monitor makes and models to keep up production quotas. Couple that with the fact that a monitor may have been replaced by a different make and model by a game route operator to keep the machine running if the original monitor crapped out.

In other words, there could be just about any monitor in there. The only way to know for sure is to actually open up the particular machine and look at the installed monitor.
