I've got a pretty busy CPO planned, and figured that I could use some surround graphics to improve the look.
I'm looking at surrounds something like... http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59359.msg637652#msg637652 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59359.msg637652#msg637652)
or

or

I have photoshop (hey, who doesn't). But I have only a passing familiarity with how to use it.
So far, I've been using the "Rounded Rectangle" tool, and adding an inner/outer glow, but mine just aren't looking right. Plus, I have no idea how they will look when printed. (I'm planning on having MameMarquees print this out once I get it finished)
So, Is there anyone who can give some pointers to doing nice surrounds? Or point out a good photoshop tutorial somewhere?
Thanks all.

Create a new layer, draw a rounded rectangle. Apply a "Stroke" effect to the layer. Set the Fill of the layer to 50% (It's under the "Opacity").

Ahhh. "stroke" That's what I was missing.
I'd been playing with inner/outer glow, and resizing, and bevel, but never thought to try the "stroke" option.
:notworthy:
thanks a ton, worked like a charm.

Where can I get the art for Surrounds only? Does anyone have a bunch of MISC Surround Art?

I went through 15 pages of this thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59359.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59359.0) Looking at the various surrounds people had made. Some are truly inspired.
If you're looking for authentic arcade cabinet surrounds, I can't help there, except for http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/cpom/cpo.html (http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/cpom/cpo.html) It might give you some ideas.

nobody has just some generic art? So Player 1 Surrounds and Player 2 Surrounds?

What do you mean when you say "Generic art"? I don't think button surrounds are ever generic. It depends on the layout/configuration of your buttons/sticks/trackballs.
