Title: How to do this split screen thing?
Post by: eds1275 on April 21, 2010, 01:22:08 pm
I was reading a post on Melenko's KI project when I noticed he had punch out and some other 2-screen games displyed on one monitor.

How can I do the same thing? That looks pretty cool and though I'm using a horizontal widescreen monitor and though it will be small it opens up a bunch more games to play. Maybe one day even silent scope [that would be hella cheating though].

Hi there.

That's actually a playchoice version of Castlevania; all playchoice version play that way.  I personally don't like them too much cause the Menu Select screen is always there and take most of the screen space (unless you have a mame version that alows to hide it).  Other disadvantage to PlayChoice games is the built-in timer: you play the amount of time you purchased.  And also to start the game is quite different from other games.

Cheers,
Congui

Im using Mame 129.

I think if you hit tab and go into the Video setting of mame, it should be able to do what you're asking.  I've done it before for Punchout, I just cant recall exactly where I did it.   Just play around with the Mame setting within the emulator, it should be in there somewhere.

thats default settings, I dont recall changing anything. well I did just have the display output rotated to compensate for the vertical monitor.
