Title: Ipac / Hyperspin / MAME Config questions

So I'm working to get my home PC arcade machine up and running again.  I've got hyperspin running configured with Mame.  I installed my IPAC and I seem to have the player one all working, but can't get the joystick for player two to work. 

Can someone point me to a list of all the standard keyboard buttons for Mame?  I must be mapping the IPAC incorrectly.

First off, Ipacs are programed to work out of the box with MAME. Secondly, press TAB in MAME (in game) and you can see all the defualt controls for each function.

You probably have more than one keyboard attached. At some point in time in MAME recent builds they changed they way MAME accepts input, the new input method does not allow you to virtually send keystrokes and will know the diffrence between multiple keyboard and which key is pressed. So nodoubt your configs may be all knackred.

Id just compile mame to use the old input method which was more usefull in my opnion.

You can remove your Default.cfg, recreate your MAME.ini. Enable multiple keyboards. Then start over if you wish.
In the MAME>CFG folder you will see other configs that match the name of roms, these are per game settings. You may need to remove those too.

Or just compile your own mame and assign your keys (forcing the old input method).

yea, totally confused.
I want to take the easiest approach which I'm guessing is to just map the correct keystrokes for player2 up, down, right, & left to the IPAC.  Can someone tell me what those keyboard strokes are?

Bsoder,
 Launch MAME, run a game. Press TAB, Go to Player 2 controls, press Enter. Look at the controls. Highlight a control, Press ENTER, Then press a button on your IPAC, (it will remap that key for you)

Repeat this step for all your controls.

Here are the defualts, Yes by default player 2 ONLY HAS FOUR BUTTONS (YOU WILL HAVE TO REMAP ANYWAYS FOR GAMES LIKE STREETFIGHTER)

Please do yourself a favor and simply remap MAME to what your IPAC is currenly configured for.

Button 2 - Del Pad
Button 3 - Enter Pad
Up - 8 Pad
Down - 2 Pad
