Besides the fact that the console can't ever go on Live, does Microsoft do anything else to the console to "cripple" it?
Like nuke the XBLA games on it or anything else of the sort?
Thanks.

Without access to Live that unit could never download it's XBLA games agian so if they get deleted from the system and not backed up, you're SOL. There will also be no leaderboards, no patches for games, no DLC or stuff like that.

Thanks DJ.
So, basically anything that requires online/Live is no longer an option then.
I thought maybe Microsoft did something to the console itself that wouldn't allow you to play and save your disc-based games to the hard drive anymore or something like that.

They did do that but apparently they changed that in the firmware update earlier this month. I do believe that even banned units can get dashboard updates but that's it. ...But don't quote me on that.
If they can't update online, they can still update offline. I believe you can download off of PC and install updates off CDR or flash drive. ...Agian don't quote me on that. Google would answer that question for you.

so if you cant go online online with it and you have to jump through hoops to get updates how much is a banned 360 worth on CL?
Also what is the major UPSIDE of the whole thing?

Cheap / still play games (just not online) / still stream content from your PC / etc

Why bring me into this? It's not my fault!

Half of my games for the 360 are from Xbox Live Arcade and I love the XBLA platform. Sega's After Burner Climax is out in two days and your banned Xbox can't get it. :P

jtagged xbox can get xbla anything. you-know-how way ;)

I'd like to show my appreciation and support the development of awesome arcade ports to XBLA by actually paying for them. Considdering After Burner Climax cost $1-$2 per credit, I think that at $10 for the whole game I'm getting a steal. Same for Outrun and other possible titles. :P

well I buy stuff too. I was just saying.
my own xbox is still not banned yet(lol?) and I bought bunch of xbla games too. mostly capcom stuff because Ive been supporting them since day one. if anything I will just get an old xbox for jtagging.

FWIW, depending on the hacked firmware, you might not be able to play backups of current games without getting it modded again.
