I've installed Game Launcher. Everything is configured. I know how to replace the windows intro/shut down screens.
What I need is to have the system boot into windows and automatically start Game Launcher and on exit from Game Launcher go to the desktop.
Any ideas? I'm very shaky on knowledge in this area.

I haven't used 98 in a while, but I'll try not to mislead you. What you need to do is create a link to Game Launcher in your startup folder. Right click on your taskbar you and select properties. Select the advanced tab. Select add and let the wizard walk you through the creation of the shortcut. Be sure you create it in the "startup" folder.
Hope this helps...and...anyone feel free to correct any errors that I may have made (I'm using 2000 & XP). ;)
Note: Explorer is still your shell, so, on exit you will be dropped to the desktop...just like you wanted--easy, huh? ;D

Put game launcher in your startup program group. When you quit it should return to windows.

Edit: Spaced Invader gave you more details while I was typing this.

Guys, thanks for the help.
I've done as you suggested but the whole system freezes. I cntl-alt-del shuts down Game Launcher and then it starts automatically without even going back to windows. ???
I'll have a play with it tonight and get back to you tomorrow. Thanks for putting me on the right path though.
Cheers

people who've done this have needed to insert somehow "pauses" so that other windows stuff loads before gamelauncher starts to luanch...
i'd chekc the GL mailing list archive as some solutions have been bantered about before re: this... (i belive sourceforge hosts the list, fwiw)

You can try "startRight" it allows you to manage the launch order of your start-up programs and also allows you to set a timed delay before launching...should fix you up. Find it here:

Hope this helps!

Thanks Spaced.
Has worked 100% of the time since I installed startright!
