Hi guys
I am converting an Electrocoin Goliath cab to MAME, I'm making good progress and am on the verge of getting my CPO printed and drilling my panel.
My testing so far has generally just involved me on my own and my 2-player 6-button 1-trackball config seems perfectly comfortable. However, during later testing/cardboard mockups I tried two spinners with 7" Miniracers on the front of the panel. It was quite cramped, especially with P1 turning right and P2 turning left, so I have gone for one spinner in the middle.
Following on from this test I have got to thinking, is 2-player 6-buttons too ambitious for a panel 600mm wide? Have any of you put a 2-player 6-button config onto a panel 600mm wide? How does it play in practise? Is it comfortable or is it too cramped? I would really like for it to work as I want to be able to play 2-player fighting games, but if it's not going to be comfortable enough to play I need to have a rethink, and soon!
I've tried to attach a copy of the CPO image but every time I do it just breaks the post - hence this repost! Anyone have any ideas on that please do advise! :)
Many thanks in advance you guys.
Cheers

That's 23½" for those who think the metric system only exist to make penises sound bigger...
I think that's cutting it a little close for 2 player - 6 buttons. If it were me I would cut back on the buttons or make the panel larger. I definitely wouldn't put a track ball on there. You need room all around trackballs as to not bump the other controls and cause unwanted stuff happening in the game. Of course you could disable the other controls for trackball games but you still wouldn't want to be running your hand into things whilst playing.

Mines 25" and thats a two player 8 button. So i think you might struggle with yours (600mm = 23.62") if you want a trackball. Otherwise i think it will be fine for a 2 player 6 button.

It is definitely doable. This CP is 22-3/4" (approx 575mm). I imagine you could double up the buttons on each side with no trouble.

Other way around. 6 inches = 15.2 cm.

Thanks for the responses you guys.
Malenko - thanks for the link, some very useful info there.
Javeryh - thanks for the picture. Very, very similar to what I've done, except as you say I've got two rows of three buttons for each player not one.
The consensus seems to be then, that it can be done and it is pefectly usable (as in my own tests) but a bit, say, "cosy" :) with two players.
Wicked - thanks guys. Cheers

Are they the smaller diameter buttons? if so may be slightly misleading. What size buttons, trackball and sticks are you planning on using Diewrecked?
attach and post images into this thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=90051.0;topicseen (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=90051.0;topicseen)
Then right click on the attachment and go properties then copy its adress inbetween (img) (/img), For example:
(img)Address.of.picture(/img)
Make sure you use [ not (, as i have in the example and don't use spaces. (used ( just to show the idea)
Can also get it up by clicking the icon undernieth italics, which will bring up the code to just paste in between.
Solid,
