sooooo.. is there an easy way to display buttons configurations before a game launches in mame? I am using maximus arcade as my main front end, but I would even be happy if I could figure this out in hyperspin.
For Mame I know there are ways to make image cards that show you the specific controllers for each mame game
For each emulator I wouldn't mind making the images myself (I would just make one image per system) so that people know what the buttons are on the cabinet (or xbox 360 controller)
For example, for NES games, I want people to know that button 1 is A and button 2 is B
For games that use the xbox 360 controller they would display the a picture of the xbox 360 controller with labels that show how the buttons correspond to ps1 controller buttons.
I would especially love to have a second screen display this throughout the game, but I would settle for it being displayed a second before the game launches (or even when you are selecting the game)

tried it out.. i'm intrigued
the only thing I don't like is that it's set up for a street fighter layout, but mine is setup as a hybrid (snk and streetfighter)
so
XXX

X
The bottom row will be for snk games everything else will be on the 6 buttons
Is there a way to edit the control panel viewer in gameex?

There is a program to check out that may do what you need called CPviewer I think.
http://cpviewer.emuchrist.org/ (http://cpviewer.emuchrist.org/) I have never used this though but it might be a nice alternative for you.

I'll second CPWizard. Works great, and does pretty much anything you could want.
