First I like to say awesome forum! I am a regular reader, first time poster! I bought my John St. Clair a couple years back and I was waiting on buying a new house before I started my project because my house is so small now. With the housing market crash it doesn't look like I am going anywhere anytime soon. So I decided to build it and worry about the wife coming down on me later. :timebomb: I know, not a smart move but all I can do is think about building it.
So my first (and second) of many questions to come.
1) So far I really like the C.P. that markrvp has. (See Image Below) I plan on building the cabinet from the book then place this C.P. on it. Will that work? Or will I run into some problems?
2) I have looked but did not find a section/location where I can download C.P. layouts. I know about C.P. Designer but I would rather leave the layout design up to someone with more experience than me. Where can I find this or do I have to P.M. individuals asking and hoping for them to send it to me?
Thanks for the help. I cant wait to start building it!!! So many games..... so little time.

I was inspired by this:

...to build this:

(construction thread linked in sig pic below)
The two-tiered design really makes it much easier to access all the controls, and you can get a lot of stuff on there. I was actually quite struck by the similarities between my layout and the pic you posted there, minus the tiers.
Realize that a lot of people will think you're nuts for trying to squeeze that many controls in there. But if you're inclined in that direction, I can tell you I haven't regretted it a bit.

Nice C.P. ! I am defiantly going with the design concept that more controls are better. I have a feeling that after I finish the cabinet and get some playing time under my belt I am going to want to redesign and rebuild the control panel. But isn't that what makes this hobby fun? I am so pump and excited! If anyone knows the dimensions of the C.P. I posted please hit me up. I am going to Home depot today to get my MDF and search the forums some more to see if I can find it. Hmmmm, maybe I should search all of markrvp posts.

My cab had the same inspiration as angry red (that supercade is a nicely designed machine)
I diverged a bit from it though ;)
This is a pretty old shot of my cp. You can see its progression on my build thread

There's a lot of good 4p builds out there. Truth is, you just have to consider what games you'll likely want to play most and mock up a panel from there. For instance, I really don't care for how I put together the button layout on the top panel of my CP, but, cest la vie! They work ok, and most of the games I find myself playing only use the 1-4 player controls anyway.
