My wife is having some kind of stupid jewelry party at our house tonight...and many of the women that came to the party brought their children :-\...so now there are about a dozen kids running amok in my house. there are some small kids who are just playing with toys, a few watching a movie, and 4 or 5 of them huddled around my arcade cabinets. Since this party started about an hour ago, neither one of my cabinets have been left unattended. it is a cool feeling to see these young kids enjoying something that they just cant get at their houses. My wife gives me a hard time about my cabinets, she doesnt like them because they take up so much room in the house..but fortunatly it is nights like this that give me ammunition in my battle for another cabinet (i'm really pushing for a Playstation 2 based light gun cabinet...so far it's not going to well.)
i find that i hardly ever play games on my cabinets, and that's probably why she doesnt want any more, but when people come over, they are always such a big hit.

I completely hear ya!
I've only got one MAME cab and had my son's 8th b-day party a few weeks back; about 11 kids ranging from 5-13. I had MAME, Rock Band the Wii and Foosball setup in the basement. The kids were all over MAME and I had to police the turn-taking. I should say that the game never changed...I set it up to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My boys loved it because I hadn't set that one up for them previously.
It really was a nice feeling watching all the boys s enjoy the machine so much.
One of the older boys even said, "Let me guess...you rented all this?" :)

I've had a few friends over playing with my cab (when it's been playable, it's destructed right now :) )
For me, it's probably been more fun building that actually playing (I used to frequent arcades, but I was never particular good at the games, just something fun to do on occasion).
That's probably why the build process is going on 3 years now ::)
When I finish it, hmmm, Maybe I can add wireless Rockband controller support.... and... and....
