We had a beer fridge at work for a couple years. Never had a problem. People would just drink a beer now and then. One day the site director decided it was too much of a liability. He was afraid someone would drink too much and get in an accident on the way home. So, he revoked the privilege.
Kinda lame. No one ever in the years it was there even got noticeably tipsy.

last week someone posted a rant on face book that was describing one of the company owners in an unflattering way with a lot of foul language.
I was off the day the guy who ran the company next door told the owners he’d seen the face book page, but when I returned to work I had received an email from this person asking me a work related question and an hour later I received an email sent to everyone in the office stating that this person no longer works here.

What does this have to do with the topic ???

Like that's ever stopped a comment in EE before. :lol
I like the fact that the factory workers can't drink now but the truck drivers, THE TRUCK DRIVERS, are allowed three beers. :o
THEY LET THE TRUCK DRIVERS HAVE THREE BEERS. ::)

It’s another example of what most people understand as not being an acceptable thing to do with work.

I generally don't drink at work, but I occasionally have a few. We do have a liquor cabinet in the kitchen and the lower two drawers of the fridge are generally filled with beer, so it's not like drinking is frowned upon here. Before working here I would of never considered drinking while at work, but when your boss hands you a beer, it's hard to say no 8)

Man i wish i could drink at work, Nearly lost my job for going for one at lunchtime once. But then again i am a machinist so i suppose its fair.

I used to bring a thermos of coffee and baileys to work in the morning. The aroma perked up a few ears but nobody said anything (and heck, it's not like that would be hard liquor).
I did some work with a company in England once, they had done some consulting with Guiness. So one day, a Guiness truck shows up with a full load. They had Guiness in their fridges (and back porch) for almost a year, and yeah, it got drunk all day long, but noone ever had any issues with it.
Personally, if I was running power equipment that could take off a finger (or worse), I wouldn't drink during the day out of self preservation :)

There even stopping from smoking full stop at work, and i ain't talking about the good stuff. :lol
