Title: Windows 7 on Arcade Cab
Post by: spacegoogie on April 09, 2010, 12:41:23 am
Long story short, I had an old HDD in my cab and it was getting really hot and is what I believe was making my windows XP freeze.
I put in a newer HDD and installed Window 7. No freezing as of yet, and windows 7 runs fantastic :applaud:
Everything boots and loads just fine and fast if not faster than windows XP. Out off all my games one game called SwitchBall would not load do to an error reading "No direct3D card available"
No biggy. I knew from the start I might not be able to change the boot screen or the logon screen. I was ok with that just as long as all worked well and fast.
So I did some on-line reading about how to change windows 7 logon and tried a few different things with no positive results. Right as I was about to give up I came across this website
http://windows7center.com/news/download-our-windows-7-logonui-background-changer/ (http://windows7center.com/news/download-our-windows-7-logonui-background-changer/)

Downloaded it, coppied the two files into my new folder called Change W7 login, ran it and in the blink of an eye the logon screen was changed :D
It really makes a difference as to having the pretty little flower type bird login background. What was MS thinking? The windows 7 default logon has to be the ugliest  :censored: logon
I have ever seen. Now I need to find a way to change the W7 boot screen. If anyone knows or has some ideas on this please share.
Thought some windows 7 info for a cab would be helpful to some.

For the logon screen  I tried:
 Create registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background] "OEMBackground"=dword:00000001
Place image files in C:\Windows\System32\oobe\Info\Backgrounds that are the correct size:

Did not work.

As far as the boot screen in windows 7 I think it's going to be a little difficult to do.

I know this works.  I'm wondering if you have your backgrounds in the correct format and size?

As far as the boot screen, I know you can disable it but as far as I know you can't replace it.

I did get it to work that is way I put a link to the program. Eclipso posted " You tried something like this yet:
