well, i'm looking for a copy of super mario bros 2 for the nes.
simple enough, right?
well, i'm looking for a specific version.
the version i'm looking for has all 72 pins across the bottom connector, while the normal version has a gap in the middle.
if anyone has this version, please let me know!
-
I'm just curious, what is the difference between the two versions (besides the number of pins)? I don't have one, but I have had a few in the past and I never noticed any differences...
-
well, I honestly don't know as there's any real difference in the game, but the board is vastly different.
but i don't really want it for the sake of mario 2, i'm going to make it into a final fantasy 3 cartridge.
-
Ah. Sounds like a neat project.
-
yeah, i did something similar before, i took a copy of nes open golf and made it into a final fantasy 2 cart ;D
-
If I had an eprom burner I would probably give reproducing a shot. Seems like a relatively easy project if you can solder.
To stay on topic I'll check around town a little for you. I had already planned on hitting up my favorite local classic seller anyhow. ;D
-
yeah, the soldering typically isn't too hard, as long as you're not messing with surface mount stuff like star fox 2 or star ocean, that can be a pain.
and thanks a lot!

Ill let you know what i find tomorrow.
BTW, what programmer do you use?
-
actually, i've been either ordering them from hobby roms, or having my buddy do them for me if he happened to have the ones i needed.
but i've been told that this one is pretty good for nes games, but you'll need an adapter for anything with more than 40 pins

Sorry, couldn't find one, though I asked how much it would have been had he had one and he sells them for $15. I'm sure you can find cheaper than that.
-
oh, wow, yeah, i can beat that easy.
not trying to get off topic, but i'm also in need of a couple duck tales cartridges.
