Is that a ridiculous price?

Well do keep in mind it has an original joystick, original spinner, and the control panel with artwork.

All those things, being as expensive as they are individually, might cost that much together, right?

(That's doesn't mean I would pay that much...)

When an item gets 29 bids in the first 3 days of a 10 day auction, it is obviously an "in-demand" item.

Don't be surprised if the bids go significantly higher ... supply and demand is a beautiful thing "when you're the seller".    ;)

Capitalism, BABY !!!!

I watched a Killer Instinct machine go for over $2000 at the beginning of this month. I think 2 people were fighting ove rit driving the price up. I don't think the thing should be worth more than half that amount.

why did they take it out if it was a working game?

Looking at the bid history this seems to be a bidding war between 2 main bidders... They must want this thing really bad... There's still 7 days left in this auction!!!

For a complete working control panel or just for the joystick handle?

Aren't repro joystick handles alone more than $50? And that's not even for the the whole joystick. That's just the handle.

Thats freekin nuts ! :P. Two bone heads lost all common sense and got into a bidding frenzy and it will probably get even worse. I'll bet when the winner goes to write out the money order he'll come to his senses and ask himself "what the hell was I thinking !" I got a complete tron panel for $121.00 a few months ago which is much more reasonable. I would wait for the next one to come along and sit back for the next seven days and watch these two clowns battle it out as their wallets get lighter and lighter. I bet the seller is laughing with dollar signs in his eyes. :D

The panel most likely was pulled from a working game, but back in 1985!

The true answer to this one has little to do with people being boneheads, and probably has much more to do with the fact that there are probably several gamesellers out there that have people waiting to pay $800 - $1200 for a Tron, and they need the panel to finish their machine off.

Sure, they could wait until later, and add another $100 to their profit margin, or they could buy now, sell now, and then immediately reinvest that money.

This seems to happen from time to time with assorted pieces to different popular games. You ever seen what Assault* parts sell for? It is just as bad as Tron, even worse really, considering that complete working Trons are worth 2 or 3 times what Assaults are.

* Assault parts go crazy high in prices because it is a semi-common game, that can't be converted. It is too good to simply part out, and thus everyone tries to repair them. Thus you have the situation where a good working Assault will sell for $300, but will part out for like $500+.

*couch* I agree *cough*

Forgot to hiduser bids on this one compared to the seller's other acutions.  A whole panel usually doesn't go this expensive.  All the bids are in the first couple of days.

I'll admit, I was one of the bidders and it started out as a pride thing (You're not going to out bid me!), I eventually came to my senses.  Luckily the other guy was more of a bonehead.

I'm sorry I inferred that you were a tool.  Glad you came to your senses.... I've overpaid for a SW yoke in a simliar manner, sorta, once...

*Shrug*  Good luck on finding a better value tron panel/parts

Glad to see that you pulled out .Thats the kind of bidding you do in the last 30 seconds of the auction. ;)
The bonehead label has now been lifted. :) I too can remember a few times when I turned into Mr Hyde the bidding monster until I got stuck with the winning bid of $75.00 for a slot car ::) And not a rare one I might add. Just a car that I had as a kid and wanted pretty badly. Things can get outta hand pretty quickly.

I wanna see his face when all the bids get retracted 30 seconds before the end of the auction.  :o

Yeah, I've had my moments on eBay and you would think I have learned my lesson after being burned a few times, but sometimes my brain checks out.  Oh, well, just gotta keep telling myself I'll eventually find one (At a decent price) if I look long enough.

Looking at the high bidders history you see that most of the things he bought are game and tron related and one of the things he bought is a tron machine so I can see why he wants a extra panel. One thing I don't like is when I bid on a machine and get out bid by another bidder and I check his history and all you see is gold plated corn cob holders and used Elvis hanky's. Kinda makes you wonder if he is bidding on the machine because he wants it or he is bidding to help his buddy. Let's be honest here anyone who bids on anything to do with arcade machines or parts almost always has their history filled with past game or parts buys.
