Title: can PC monitor be takin apart and mounted in cabinet?
Post by: robsteph1702 on April 01, 2010, 09:51:26 am
i was going to mount my whole monitor in the cabinet but i think it would look better if the casin was off. is it possible to take the casing shell off the pc monitor without damaging it? also would it allow me to mount it cabinet? or do i have to rig something up?

It does look allot better if you do, some monitors are easier than others. You just have to rig some type of mount for the tube.

Many have tabs on the corners that you can bolt right through and are designed to hold the wait of the monitor.

For example, this 21" monitor in my cocktail cab:

is suspended underneath by the four corners only:

Also,, if you pay attention to your disassembly and are careful, you can just put it all back together again if things don't go your way.

Now, for my upright, I didn't decase, but I did paint the beige plastic black and built a bezel:
