Hi All ;D
First post. I thought I'd see what you all thought of my first attempt at cocktail cab. I've been wanting to build one of these for as long as I can remember. Thanks to this site/forum's help with the search button I've now done it!
The full build is listed here:

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out ;D Although it was expensive in the end. I didn't have an old PC for it's guts and thought I'd get far more longevity out of a new one.

Nice. I like the clean and simple art work. It fits with that table design.
How do the vertically mounted controls feel? That looks like it'd be awkward to me, but for quick games, I'd guess they work just fine?
Finally, just to be nit picky, I think I'd have mounted the fans on the bottom, and put small ducts up to the inside top of the cab to help exhaust the heat. that way, they wouldn't be so obvious. But, lighted the way they are, and with the clean black grills, they don't look bad.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the fans would have been better in the base I guess, but I'd built the table beforehand, it has a double layer of mdf on the base... and it's my first go :) The ergonomics of the front controls mimic the originals as you know, sitting on the floor/couch they feel just fine for pacman etc. The x-arcade will be for games that need more buttons and the joystick pointing up. It's a compromise on games table/furniture. I have a lot to learn from you guys.

Very cool design. Nice and clean.

I have that exact IKEA coffee table at home. I'll look at it in a completely different way now. Great job!

I like that alot, nice work!

Very very nice! :applaud:
Did you pay £69 for the ramvik table??? That is a good price!
I would have to pay £118 for it. AND I LIVE IN SWEDEN !!!   :badmood: :badmood:
Hmmmm. Where are this world going to end ???? :banghead: :censored:

I really like it. What a perfect coffee table!

Very nice! That looks really good in yer livingroom! And you worked on it IN YER LIVINGROOM! The only knit-pick is the placement of the controls vertically, I know there's nowhere else to put them but I never liked the DK cocktail controls either...

Very nice.
I've got to say that it's never really occurred to me to use a real table as the basis of a cocktail cab. However, with the artwork you've created, the end result looks strangely authentic. Have you considered adding a working coin door?

Hi
I have considered a coin slot for the future when I build a cashbox underneath. I know the control ergonomics seem odd on the side, but you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to them. Thanks for looking guys ;D

 I'd been considering doing the same since I first saw the table. Only difference I had thought of was to have the players at each end where the drawers open and have two monitors facing each way.
Looks really good. Makes me see what it could come out like too
