Title: Dim Viewsonic vg150
Post by: gryhnd on March 30, 2010, 09:19:04 am
I was given a viewsonic vg150 (15") LCD that had been used in an office for years. The unit powers up just fine, there's no flickers or surges, and it's evenly lit. The display starts up on the dim side and brightens only slightly after it's been on for a while.

Most likely need to replace the CCFLs I am assuming, and not the inverter, since it will run 24x7 without fail? If I need to test the inverter, does anyone know what to expect the output voltage of this unit to be?

Unless it starts out really dim, I wouldn't worry about it.

Testing the CFL inverter is dificult due to the super high voltages and high frequency involved.

I'd like to use this for a small (tabletop) cab for my nephews, and it's a bit too dim right now...plus I expect it would get worse. So I should probably just give the CCFL replacement a shot and see what happens?

CCFLs go dimmer over time, so I'm betting that's the cause of it.  Just be careful.
