I can't find this board ver on the ggg site. Can anyone ident it? I'm pretty sure I ordered an LEDWIz with 16 inputs, but it was a while ago and I'm just getting around to installing this thing. If this is the +GP version, is there a trick to getting the inputs working? I can get the lights working, but not the inputs, so I'm starting to think this thing is just an led board... ??

sooooo... you hadn't noticed the two big open spots where there should be chips? you got all your wires connecting to nothing. you gotta move them over to the other side.

I'm pretty sure that's the way it's supposed to be.
Here's a pic of the led-wiz+GP16

That's definitely a +GP. Are you looking at the gaming controls screen in your OS?

Ah, it's a gamepad emulator? Okay, that would explain why even mame wasn't seeing it, I'm sure gamepad is defaulted to "0". I'll check when I get home, thanks Randy!

Got it working.
Randy, I know you don't like suggestions too much, but considering I spent about an hour on your site trying to ident this board before I asked here, it might be a good idea to update the picture on your site. There is a fair bit of difference between the one I have, and the one shown. Considering you sell more than one board, it it a little confusing.
Also, a little more elaboration in the instructions noting that it is a gamepad, and might have to be calibrated, would be handy. The page and a half of docs, honestly, were just the led-wiz docs with a small mention that the /GP will show up as an 'HID device' (which is sort of incorrect as it does show up as a game controller, as you said).
Just a thought. It's still a neat solution for a simple mame setup with lighting.

Yes, the pictures for several of the boards are out of date. The new ones are cleaner looking and surface mount, but the transition to these was not 100% until very recently. The components and function are exactly same, just the package has changed. The naming conventions haven't though, an LED-Wiz is an LED-Wiz is an LED-Wiz, etc..

The first paragraph on the doc sheet refers to it as a "Gamepad-type control interface", it's listed under "USB Gamepad/Joystick Style" interfaces at the store and the wiring diagram shows the inputs as correlating with Joystick directions and button numbers. It's also correctly referred to as an HID device, as many gamepads / joysticks are.
There was a small error in the docs, however, that was a result of the sharing between the LED-Wiz+GP and the LED-Wiz. The +GP doesn't show up as an HID multimedia control device like the LED-Wiz does, rather as an HID Game Controller (both would still be listed in the HID USB location). This has been corrected.
Also, neither the input section of the LED-Wiz+GP, nor the GP-Wiz should ever need calibration. But I suspect that this will be relative to the operating system being used.
