Title: How to record a game play on MAME pixelperfect
Post by: Blanka on March 27, 2010, 06:34:53 am
Does anybody know a way to record a game play in Mame pixel-perfect, without motion compression?
I don't know if there is a movie codec for something like this "uberhaupt".
Anybody have an idea?

Just record an mng by pressing Shift+F12 then you can use mng2avi from the BYOAC utilities page on the wiki.

Avi is just a container format so you can have a raw avi without using lossy compression but of course you will get a much larger file size.

Large files are no problem. And beside that 224x256 pixel motion-PNG will never be that big :D.

I was wondering what happens to the sound. Is that recorded too?

Last question: how to get blocky playback. VLC smoothes the video when upscaling.

For the sound you need to use the -wavwrite option i think, it will sound bad when recording but playing the file afterwards it will sound perfect.
