Hey gang,
I am using emuloader front end with mame .061 and winXp OS,
The Front end will not pick up the sidewinder (but it does show up in control panel- game controllers)
Anyone know why?
(i try to highlight Joystick under game preferences but it will not "stick")
thanks for help in advance

it happened to me also...
I use XP, Mame32.
the first time I open Mame32, the joysticks and buttons don't work.... but then if I close it and re-open Mame32, then everything works fine....
donno why....
try closing the pgrm, do NOT reboot, then re-open the pgrm again... see if that works....

Here is an idea,
From the game controllers control panel click advanced and make sure that the sidewinder is selected as the preferred device to use with older programs.
Note, if the sidewinder is USB and there is a joystck using the joystick port it may be impossible to get it to work (known flaw with windows xp/sidewinder USB). I,ve even seen a sidewinder USB not funtion correctly if there is another sidewinder USB connected under windows XP.

well I'm guessing you are trying to say that the joystick isn't working in emuloader, i.e. you can't select games, etc. with it?
If so, it will never work as it doesn't seem that emuloader supports joysticks
If you are saying MAME isn't recognizing it AND it exists in the joystick control panel applet, do you have joystick set to "auto" in mame.ini or to one of the other joystick settings i.e. anything but "0" or none or what have you?
*shrug* just my 2 cents... is it a USB sidewinder or a gameport sidewinder?
good luck!
