Title: U-HID programming for Alt-F4
Post by: bertthedefender on March 25, 2010, 01:02:40 pm
Hi everyone,

Is it possible to program the Ultimarc U-HID to send an Alt-F4 (Windows' Close Current Window) as a way of closing down an emulator which doesn't recognise "Esc".   I don't see this option in the U-HID Configuration Utility and it'd be useful to end programs/apps this way!

Cheers ears!

Simon.

EDIT:  Actually, I suppose I could always just map one button shifted to ALT and one shifted to F4 and press them both, that would work.

You can assign macros to one button with the Winipac software.  For example, CTRL, ALT + DELETE to Button 1.  Etc.

Read more here under the macros section:  http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac_ipd.html (http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac_ipd.html)

To see how to do it, I've included pics below.  In the Winipac software, click on the "Edit" menu, then "Define Macros" (see pic 1).  Now just left click on a box and press whatever key you want.  Each row is one macro (see pic 2).  Finally, right click on whatever button you want to be the macro key and then select "Macro 1", etc for each macro that you want to assign.  (see pic 3)

Hope this helps.

Yes.  You can do this with UHID.

Thanks for the replies!   I'll have a go with the Macro programming tonight, although my understanding was that the key presses in the Macro were sent in sequence and not simultaneously - there's no way I can see a way of defining ALT-F4 as a single "event" in the U-HID config application.

If I try importing a configuration file I've made myself with some keystrokes for ALT-F4, the configuration app crashes (although I'm not 100% sure I'm putting in the correct values for the ALT-F4 keystroke).

Ubiquityman - do you have any info on how I can achieve my goal? :)

Cheers!

On the U-HID each macro key is "pressed" one after the other but all held until the last one is pressed, then all are released. So you can do this.

Note the U-HID does not use WinIPAC software, it uses the U-Config software.

Thanks Andy, that makes sense to me now - great product by they way!
