I have a personal thing about the game Zombie Revenge due to who I played it with and when. >:D
Ya, I have it on dreamcast, (havent played it in years though) but I want it to play on my big cab like other MAME games. So what would it take?
I see that it was last updated on MAME 131 but still is in the works. Is it becuse of missing peices; data? ???
Long story short, I would by a arcade cartage off eBay and donate it if it would help. Or, are there other things involved that I dont understand to make the game workable for everyone? :dunno

A 20Ghz single core CPU for starters, yes, I said 20, not 2, and that's with the current state of the Naomi driver which has most of the effects missing.
IOW forget about it in MAME.
The game has some protection, but I think the protection is understood. It might actually run in MAME right now, but so slowly that nobody has really bothered to check how well it works, nor would consider marking it as working because it's impossible to guage how well it works at such a speed.

You're better off using NullDC or something. MAME just ain't an option.
-
Or throw a DC in your cab, add some hacked controllers, and Voila!

But where could I find such a deal on a hacked controller?!? Why, I only have $40 to spend and there's no way someone could offer them at such a low, low price!
;D

I thought that was his point. I wasn't really sure, though.

Speaking from experience, I think many people (many youngsters/newcomers especially) being too optimistic about emulation potential and it's evolution. Not saying you are in these categories rackoon, but although it's possible to emulate 6th-gen consoles and arcade hardware, it's still way too early. MAME development has been a 13-year process that has been slow and emulation in general for our needs has taken about 10 years to get to the comfortable point we are at now. As consoles from 5th gen onwards started to catch up with arcade and eventually PC capabilities, next-level emulation will develop much slower.
I also frequently remind people that arcade cabinets are not really a suitable environment for the library of games on these platforms due to the increase in joypad/control complexity, so question whether the demand for this level of emulation will really be high enough to progress emulation maturity, as ultimately that generation of games were not borne out of the arcade action demand earlier consoles were. I've got all I could wish to add to my cabinet by now and I'm sure many feel the same. Whilst it would be an achievement, this generation of games is best played from your settee with a joypad, in front of a big-ass TV.

If it is just about one game, you have plenty of emulators that will emulate dreamcast pretty well (demul/makaron/nulldc...).
Naomi is also "well" emulated (with those same emulators) but zombie revenge doesn't work yet. You can launch the game but the controls don't work (apparently some encryptions are not emulated yet).

Buy the real thing if it means that much to you. They sit on ebay with no bids at $400, so you're probably looking at $300-350.
