Ok so is there a way to hack the analog stick from a dreamcast? I read the console section in this site and I am still a little confused. Cause it would be a shame if i couldnt play Gauntlet legends.
Some other minor Q's?
So how do I hook a dreamcast up to comp speakers?
The VGA box thingy...does it work for the D9200?
Lastly how do you physically connect diodes to wire?
Thanks for your patience.

You can hack the dreamcast analog stick the same way as the analog triggers (this is assuming you are using the original Sega pads). The link in the console section broke, here is the new link (for hacking the trigger buttons).

The graphic at the botton shows how to hack the trigger buttons. Just find the same HED5 chips under the analog stick.
You hook DC up to computer speakers or stereo using the VGA box (most come with a headphone out). I recommend the Blaze DC VGA adapter because it has a volume control. Otherwise the hedaphone output level may be to distored for most amp/speakers.
The VGA box works fine with the D9200 since it output 640x480 natively.
Not sure what your last question is refering to.

If I hook up my P360 as the analog joystick I lose using the directional pad correct? Perhaps there is a way to switch between the two.
The diode thingy was refering to the way I am sharing the Ipac and dreamcast. Do I solder the wires onto the strait part of the diode? Do i cover the diode so that it doesnt touch anything...stuff like that.

If you only have one arcade joystick (the p360) I'd recommend hacking the d-pad and not the analog thumbstick. You will be able to play MANY more games with the d-pad than the analog stick. I don't know if Gauntlet Ledgends will play with the d-pad or not.
Search the forum for "diode" and you will see the posts refering to how to hook this up inline with your grounds.

Wouldnt it be hooked up to the input wires and not the grounds? I think the post you are refering to is mine.

Gauntlet Ledgends plays fine with the D-pad. No real need for analog.

Ok sweet thanks.
Anyone know of any great games that only use analog? I hope not

I believe Silent Scope only works with Analog...

he said 'great games' just kidding, you do sacrafice some games, but you can get a way with a good majority of games with just the dpad. any naomi arcade ports will work perfectly. i have more problems with non-vga compatable games than non-dpad games actually, im gonna put a 25" tv in there soon and loose the monitor so i can play all my games. if i want to play a game that needs analog i just use the regular controller pluged into the side of my control panel.
which isnt very often but for like shenmue and other stuff like that its not that bad, plus you can use your rumble pack and vmus

Is there any problem with the D9200's non-advertised resolution (800x600 was it?) and the VGA box?

Oh and why bother getting the blaze VGA box if your speakers have a volume control knob? Wouldn't it be redundant to have one on the VGA box and one on the speakers?

Having just hooked up a DC to my cab using the diode method (really works GREAT), I have to say that seeing soul calibur on the d9200 is pretty much the coolest thing so far. I'm using the blue translucent (official?) vga box - there is a slight trick to getting some games to work with it. Just plug it in about 1/3 of the way until it boots up and then plug it in the rest of the way - works great.
Good luck :)
