Title: Ultra Lux button questions
Post by: Lecithin on March 19, 2010, 02:22:57 pm
I wanted to add a pac drive to my soon to be MAME cabinet I'm building but I've got a question about the Ultra Lux buttons from Ultimarc.com.

I want to use the 12v LEDs w/the blue translucent buttons but noticed they don't sell the 12v LED's in blue. Does anyone know how the blue translucent buttons will look w/a 12v white LED? I'm assuming they should look perfectly fine but didn't know if anyone had experience with that set up?

Also, anyone have pictures or comments on how the white translucent buttons look with the player 1 & player 2 inserts that ultimarc sells?

The reason I want to use the 12v LEDs is because I'm going to replace the bulb on my translucent light up track ball w/a 12v LED so that I can add that to the pac drive as well.

One last question but this one's not about the buttons... I'm looking for 5/8" MDF and having no luck. Anyone know of places that typically stock it? I'm located in Connecticut but haven't had any luck tracking some down. If not I suppose I'm going to have to use plywood or particle board (it'll have artwork and plexi over it).

I would use a LED Wiz over a Pac-Drive as the Pac-Drive can only switch the LEDs on or off. The LED Wiz can power the LEDs in a range of intensities so you can ramp on/off etc the brightness for fade etc effects.

If you use an LED Wiz you can also use the bank select feature which means you can supply more than one voltage from the board. For example you could power banks 1-8, 9-16 and 17-24 with 5v and use any 5v LEDs you want and then power bank 25-32 with 12v for your 12v trackball LEDs.

the LED wiz does look pretty awesome but someone gave me a Pac Drive so I'm already half way there.

Anyone have input on the Ultra Lux buttons?
