What are comedy movies make you laugh no matter how many times you see them? For me it was Coming to America. Here are my two favorite scenes.
MAYBE NSFW FOR LANGUAGE
Joe Louis was 137 yrs old (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdjblkRkoPU#)

"Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" - but I'm sure you all know that.
"Miss March" - don't watch the trailer...watch the movie! The trailer doesn't do it justice, and can be a spoiler of sorts to some funny parts.
"Employee Of The Month" - The one with Dane Cook. 'Where'd you get those stocking?...."
"Borat" - still funny
Very enjoyable, but not necessarily 'bust-a-gut'; Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Better Off Dead, BASEketball, Beerfest, Forrest Gump, Harold And Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay
-
Just to name a few...
The View-Askewniverse: Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II
What About Bob?
Christopher Guest Mockumentary Trilogy: Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind
This is Spinal Tap
The Princess Bride
Dazed and Confused
Slums of Beverly Hills
Saving Silverman
Drop Dead Gorgeous
Schindler's List

Blues Brothers

Superbad, Old School and The Hangover are some really funny recent movies. I will always get suckered into watching if they are on TV.
-
+1 on Superbad. Tuck it in the waist band.
-
I could watch 40 Year Old Virgin once a week if I had the time. But here are a few others that make the grade:
Caddy Shack, Ferris Bueller, Animal House, The Jerk, Anchorman, Beerfest, Fast Times @ Ridgemont High, most of the National Lampoon Vacation series, Clerks, most of the Judd Apatow movies, altough I don't know if they'll stand up over time.
-
Kingpin
BaSEketball / Orgazmo
Kevin Smith
Blazing Saddles
-
Oh man . . . no Groundhog Day so far. Criminal.
Raising Arizona
Tommy Boy
Wedding Crashers
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
A bunch of others.
-
---steaming pile of meadow muffin---....how could I've forgotten to list the Coen Bros?
-
Oh man . . . no Groundhog Day so far. Criminal.
I was going to, but stopped before I started putting too many.
-
I quit enjoy "Just Friends".
Vacation and Christmas Vacation can't be left off the list either.
-
Vacation and Christmas Vacation can't be left off the list either.
I don't know why, but it always bugs me when people leave off the "National Lampoon's" at the beginning.

It always bugs me to have to type or say the long version. It's not like the movies are remakes.
Which reminds me, anyone seen Walt Disney Presents Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland? I loved it.
-
Saying Christmas Vacation (and European Vacation, Vegas Vacation) is fine, but National Lampoon's Vacation just being called "Vacation" -- I wouldn't even know what movie someone was talking about in casual conversation if that's all they said.
Oh, and that's
Walt Disney Presents Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland in Breathtaking Disney 3D starring Johnny Depp and a Bunch of Other People
-
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
I once was watching that movie and had to pause it so I could stop laughing!

Schindler's List
You are one sick puppy ;D
I forgot about 'Life of Brian'. Office Space i've only just discovered. Watched it twice in two weeks, but haven't seen it enough times to say i'll always find it funny. I hope so, because it really struck a chord with me, even though i've hardly ever worked in an office...
-
I wouldn't put Life of Brian on the list. I wouldn't put any Monty Python on the list. Even their best, of which Life of Brian definitely is one, make you suffer through non-stop rapid-fire utterly unfunny joke after joke. Then they hit you with something gut-busting that has you in tears. But then it's back to misfire after misfire after misfire for twenty minutes till the next bout of hilarity.
-
Idiocracy trailer: (Warning, due to foul language and sexual suggestions, this one is not for the kids.)

other then everything listed,
National Lampoon's Black Ball (no ones ever heard of it)
Half Baked, now the movie as a whole is just alright, but one of the first scenes is EPIC, right as hes feeding the horse....best dialog EV4R
most of my faves are already listed: Grandma's boy, ground hog day, clerks, etc
-
Half Baked
I actually saw it at the theater. Great movie!
-
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
A very underrated movie from the Apatow group, or at least some of them. Ranks right up there with Superbad for me, great movie.
"If you get bitten by a shark, you arent just going to give up surfing are you?"
"Well, yeah probably."
-
just remembered Role Models and I love you, Man
-
Is this just a list of comedies? I thought it was for best comedies.
-

Yeah, some of the stuff listed has me scratching my head.
-
Oh yeah . . . Harold and Maud! Not only one of the great comedies, but probably a top 10 all-time greatest romances in the history of cinema.
-

Alright, something we can agree on!

Have you heard about the Apatow remake? oh boy...
no, not really. i made that up
-
Office Space +1
Dumb and Dumber
South Park the Movie (very serious at the same time)
Borat (even more serious at the same time)
Holy Grail
True Lies (not only comedy, but best in every genre)
-

I only like three things Apatow was associated with:
1) Freaks and Geeks (greatest show ever)
2) Undeclared
3) Heavyweights
My wife and I *WALKED OUT* of the 40 Year Old Virgin, btw.
-

I tried watching Freaks and Geeks, and wanted really hard to like it, but it just wasn't all that great.
Better TV shows in my opinion:
The Wire (the real greatest show ever)
Firefly
24 (season 1, when it was original)
Dexter
Cosby Show
Seinfeld
And if you want teenage centered drama, Friday Night Lights first season is better than all of Freaks and Geeks.
-
Step Brothers
Tommy Boy
are the only ones that I can think of that haven't been mentioned to these other CLASSICS
-

Agree to disagree. Obviously "greatest show ever" was a bit of a stretch on my part, but it's an awesome series that died too early a death. Great writing, both dramatic and comedic. Most of the cast has gone on to do some great work, but none as great as what they did in those 18 episodes.
-
I like the TV show "The Big Bang Theory" and a recent comedy movie would be "The Hangover".
Some oldies I like are LA Story and the Holy Grail (more so than Life of Brian even), but I'll admit they are not to everyone's taste.
-
Since we're delving into TV land... I'm really digging "Community".
-

I can't get into it, but love Parks and Recreation.
-
Dr Strangelove was a good dark comedy that I didnt see in the list. It's not Ha-ha funny, but it gets me everytime, esp the scene where the british officer is ordering the american guard to shoot the lock off of the coca-cola machine :D "If you are wrong, you will have to answer to the cocacola corperation"
Dr Strangelove and The Producers are prolly my favorite "dark" comedies, even tho the only thing dark about the producers is how it makes fun of Nazis.
-
Dr Strangelove is great. One of my favorite Kubrick films.
-
Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.
RayB, it was comedies that always make you laugh no matter how many times you watch it.
How about Spaceballs?
-
The finest film and comedy ever made, though i doubt many have seen it, if any of you.

Ace Ventura and the sequel Ace Ventura : When Nature calls
the only Jim Carey movies I can watch.
ALLLLLLLLRIGHTY THEN!
-
I remember liking the first Ace Ventura but hating the second. I was in junior high or high school when I saw the first, though, so I'm not really sure whether it was actually good. But he has unquestionably been in far better movies. Truman Show is amazing. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a ---smurfing--- masterpiece. Man on the Moon was pretty good too.
Edit: Except the scene where he's conducting surveillance from a fake rhino and the fan breaks and he can't get out and then the rhino gives birth to him. If that was in the 2nd movie, it at least had one good scene.

LOL, for me its the only ones I can't watch (and cable guy of course). D&D, LL, TMS: that's my picnic.

I saw Twin Town and really couldn't understand what was so funny, maybe it's a cultural thing :dunno

That scene is the second one, and I agree with you, the first was much better, but the second has its moments
Truman show: didnt like or hate it
The Majestic: terrible
The Mask: very meh
Dumb and Dumber: I liked, but not because of him
Batman Forever was just terrible (not his fault)
Me Myself and Irene: was great but not one of my all time fave comedies but its close, add this to the list of JC movies I can watch
Bruce almighty was just plain bad
Man on the Moon: best movie he ever did and I love, not on the list cause not a comedy (more like a biography)
Yes Man: I didn't like it, but I don't have kids to watch it with and I'm sure that's why
The Number 23: Lame
Fun with Dick and Jane: mediocre but again it was the script or lack there of.
Back to Ace Ventura, the whole movie is pretty funny from beginning to end. The open HDS package scene is hilarious, and even some of the more zany parts like the shark tank and lookin at all the dolphin player's rings keep you entertained. Cannibal Corpse cameo? hello?! yes please! :)
The ONLY scene in "Cable Guy" that made me laugh is the scene when he visits matthew broderick in jail and thats only because I saw midnight express (on VHS!)
-
What, no "Once Bitten" love?
Nevermind. I just rewatched it for the first time in a very long time. Bad movie with only a few decent scenes.
-
Unless I missed it, I don't recall anyone mentioning Something About Mary. Franks and beans....
That movie really raised the bar on crossing the line. :applaud:
-
I used to find it funny, but the last time I watched it, it wasn't that great anymore.
-
No love for the 80's comedy whoopee boys?
I wanted to thank you for only giving me the clap. These days it's refreshing to meet a girl with curable diseases.
-
No love for the 80's comedy?
+1 for Canonball Run

I can't believe i didn't think of this
Hardware Wars (1 of 2) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlFOiFLLd0g#)
I first saw this in science class in highschool. Teacher didn't have a lesson. It was on 16mm film (we still had those in school, evn though video players had been around a while already).
If you haven't seen it before, it's only about 17 minutes long. Parts 1 and 2 on youtube are the whole thing (",)

Trying to mention movies that have not been mentioned yet.
Kingpin, Army of Darkness (did I miss it? I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned!!!), Evil Dead 2 (to some extent), ANYTHING with Peter Sellers (Pink Panther series were great!), Naked gun movies (might have been mentioned), Top Secret...
-
I can't believe no one mentioned:
History of the World Part I -- "It's good to be the king!"

Gotta love Young Frankenstein
Most of Mel Brooks movies are fantastic in my book
