Title: Drilling push button holes in the coin door.
Post by: Dartful Dodger on March 18, 2010, 05:17:00 pm
I've got a coin door that has two coin slots, but only one coin return.

Each coin slot has a little quarter sign with a small hole in the coin door to allow the signs to be back lit by a small bulb.  Is there a way to widen those holes to allow me to remove the signs and add two rectangle button.

Right now I removed the guts of the coin return tray and put one of the rectangle button there.  It works, but it looks stupid and it's only linked to the player 1 credit input.

I don't want to add the coin credits to the control panel.  I like having to reach down by the coin slots to add credits.

This idea is to obvious for me to be the first to think of it, but I couldn't find any threads on the subject.

Thanks

Why not add a microswitch behind the current push-button coin returns so when you push the return it activates the microswitch?

There is just one coin return button and since the mechanics of the button are clearing out two coin slots the button requires a lot of force to push.

Besides that wouldn’t be as clean and pretty as using rectangle push buttons.

have you checked out groovygamegear's coin return buttons they may be a perfect fit for your app.

Ah now I get it.

I looked at groovygamegear's coin return button.

My coin slot doesn't have a button, the button is metallic the size of a pencil and is half way between the coin slot and the coin return.  There are no wires it's all mecanical.

Now that I realize there are doors like the way I want I don't have to put holes through the one I have, I’ll just buy one already with the holes.

Thanks.
