Title: Can I hack a PS2 or XBOX controller to play IN a San Fran Rush the Rock cab ???
Post by: abefroman on March 18, 2010, 04:58:20 pm

Ok, I've got a San Francisco Rush the Rock Alcatraz cabinet and I want to play PS2 and/or XBOX DRIVING games IN the cabinet - I.E. ONE sit down cabinet for ALL driving games.

I bought the necessary cables from ultimarc.com to jack the video from the console into the monitor, but what about the controllers ???

I just took apart a madcatz dual force controller and it has pots in both directions for the analog sticks.   Could I wire these into the pots on the driving controls on the SF Rush the Rock cabinet ?

From marvin (clay's) writeups, the steering wheel and pedals all use 5K pots....

Anybody ever done this ???

in theory you can but I never seen anyone actually wiring a real steering wheel for consoles. most people just use a steering wheel for whatever system. I can highly recommend fanatec force feedback steering wheel for original xbox.

excellent - I'll look into that steering wheel.  I actually built a sit down driving cabinet using an omega race cockpit cabinet, a 27" TV and a PS2 and mounted a ps2 steering wheel and pedals into it.  however, I want to use the sf rush the rock cabinet.  So, I'll probably modify the original steering wheel and pedals to use playstation and xbox controller pots.  I can fabricate and weld anything I need, so I outta be able to do it.
