Anyone else notice the sounds in DK Jr. being off in the newer versions of Mame? DK sounds better than ever, but DK Jr. sounds terrible when he jumps and lands. Am I going crazy? Is there a fix? I assume samples aren't needed anymore, correct? Thanks.

It's a general regression as discrete development has continued to cover many more games. It is logged already at MAMETESTERS.org. Not fixed yet, but it not too bad. It can be a bother when you are used to a certain sound, I can understand. Samples no longer used after 0.122u2.

Yeah, this is actually one of the fixes I am looking forward to most. I haven't played as much DKJ for this very reason. :dunno

Hmmm, how much better? I'm still using .127 and it's so muffled.

As of .141 u4 Donkey Kong still sounds incredibly muffled and Donkey kong Jr jump and land sounds are crazy sounding. :banghead:

I think couriersud cleaned up the sound a bit. It's still a little bass-heavy, but far better than it was. Whether it's original, I don't know.
However, I can sympathize on DKJr. It is a little weird.
