Title: Mouse for the home PC
Post by: haveaniceday on March 14, 2010, 03:28:04 am
I am looking for  mouse for the home PC

Find this solid corded mouse at newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104242&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-Mouse-_-Logitech-_-26104242&AID=10440897&PID=3806491&SID=)

is this better than the intellimouse explorer 4.0?

I have always loved Logitech products. My all time favorite (though incompatible with my laptop) is my Logitech Trackman Marble FX (http://www.wuggawugga.org/?q=node/8). During my last break up, my ex attempted to take it. Nobody, not even my current fiance has the balls to get between me and my TMFX or my NewTouch (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/479/2999&hub=1&cl=us,en?WT.z_sp=Image). I'll drop kick her ass to the curb. I only wish they would bump up the resolution and add a proper scroll wheel (the TMFX was released before either became standard features).

But... I'm a little confused by your question. As much as I love my TMFX, and my obvious preference for Logitech mice (my laptop has a Logitech, but the model ## is worn. It's a ???85). Mice are like underwear. It doesn't matter what other people like, if you try it out and the mouse doesn't fit you, it's just a piece of crap. My fiance has a preference for MS mice. I like Logitech. My Ex (the ---smurfette---) preferred the venerable CompUSA Trackball (http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_andrew.html) and family. My mother has this weird funky glow-in-the-dark mouse (and keyboard) that she just loves.

If you're asking us what mouse is good. Then yeah, that's a good mouse. If you're asking us for what mouse you like, all I can say is try it and see.  :dunno

Personally, I pretty much only use these. (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10809&cs_id=1080901&p_id=256&seq=1&format=2) I have about 6 of them. At work, home, the wifes, the laptop, etc. I really like the feel of them. But like SavannahLion said, it is how it feels to you.

I have to agree with mice being a personal preference thing.  I'll pimp the Logitech MX Revolution anyway though.  I will never go back to a clicky mouse wheel!

Thats a fine mouse, although one important difference between that and the explorer 4.0 is the lack of thumb buttons.  I constantly use my thumb buttons (page forward and page back for regular use, and always bind them to something when gaming), so that would be a deal breaker for me.

Personally I use and love the Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-HKA-00001-SideWinder-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B000TTQFIS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268597238&sr=8-1), but I know it's a bit much for the average user.

About the clicky mouse scroll wheels, I've ALWAYS taken mine apart and removed either the wire or the "bearing" that makes the click. The smooth scrolling wheels are sooo much nicer to use.
