Jeez...

Sadly, the only thing surprising here is that it took this long for one of them to OD....
-
The Lost Boys, Silver Bullet, License to Drive, Lucas....
Good stuff.
Sad to see someone with a good career at one point take a 20 year nosedive.
-
Truly sad. :'(

As a parent I don't think I'd ever let my kid become a child actor. Talk about bad odds....

Well, it's mostly child stars of the 80s that seem to be the worst off of the bunch.

Rick Schroeder did ok :D

I've never seen a single thing he was in, and Double Switch was one of the few SEGA CD's I passed on, kind of hard to believe because he was ubiquitous when I was a kid. :-\
+1. hard to believe there are two of us on this forum who haven't seen Lost Boys!

Yes.

Yes.
Well your claim is falsified then. The Lost Boys is the single most influential vampire movie since the original Universal Studios Dracula. Every single solitary vampire movie since has ripped something off from this film. Hell, Joss Wheadon's vampires (Buffy/Angel) are almost a direct ripoff cosmetically.
Now if you claim "I don't like those types of movies." then you are doubly doomed. To be a film fan you MUST enjoy horror because every single director, producer, actor and sfx technician starts in horror. Horror is cheap to make and it allows for a lot more leeway than other genres so those getting their start turn to it. On top of that TLB is also a comedy, and a damn good one at that.
So not watching one of the best horror/comedy movies of all time kind of revokes your movie fan liscense.
Don't worry... there's still hope. Go watch it IMMEDIATELY, come back and you'll be golden.
What are you still doing here? Go watch it now!! :burgerking:

You're just trolling now.

So I tried watching The Lost Boys last night. I got about halfway through.
Two observations... lots of mid-20s dudes with receding hairlines got to play teenagers back then... and the whole thing (at least the first half) seems to be a euphemism for underaged drinking. Brother drinks out of a bottle and acts nuts with his friends, and then walks around groggy and in sunglasses all day (kinda like my Mondays). I understand that at the end, the little brother appeals to his better nature and gets him to stop partaking. The parallels are so obvious it really makes me wonder if someone said, "hrmm... this is getting a little too after school special for me... I know... VAMPIRES!"
Job done. Thanks Pinball! Howard, i am now a film fan ;D
