There is a detailed post/instructions here on making a bezel from poseterboard/foamboard. try searching 'make your own bezel' or something.

I used those instructions as a guideline to making my own. But I made a framework of it to compensate for the curve on my tv face.
check my project in my sig for pics.

Pixelhugger did.  His instructions are HERE (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=13118.msg723941#msg723941).  It should be pretty easy to duplicate.

You could use black gator-board.

Nice and easy to cut.

cant use gator-board. it has to be thin enough to fit between a piece of glass. The obvious solutions like a piece of poster board is not the correct shade of black.

today I went to michaels and had them cut me 2 pieces of black Mat frame. it looks just ok. I wanted it to completely blend in with the underlay. but unfortunately its a different shade of black then my underlay. The only thing I can think of is to have someone cut me whatever material that is that goes under the cocktail glass. I need 2 strips. I wonder if i could buy Just a black blank sheet of it.

I will look up those links also and see what others have used.

Just paint what you have.  If you have a gloss black underlay,  paint the bezel gloss black.  If you have a matte black underlay... paint the bezel matte black... seems pretty easy to me.

If you want/need a non-flat bezel, the instructions here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=17175) work great. I used them as an example and made one. Then I used my own to make a second one a little more precise. A bit of gloss black spray paint it is great!

Edit: I missed that you want a flat bezel. But the instructions above are great for non-flat, for sure.

:laugh2:  Obviously I was joking since you probably thought about your bezel more than most people think about their entire cabs (and the result speaks for itself).

I used foam board and painted it. Its rigid enough to stand on its own.
The only thing you have to be careful about is choosing a paint with propellant that won't eat the foam on the cut edges. I used Testors spray in the little 4oz can, it will not eat foam.

+1 on foamboard. I have used black foamboard on my 2 cab builds and my Visual Pinball cab and it works out great. Very easy to cut and it's stiff enough to hold itself up with just tape or velcro.

Foamboard shade (of black) doesn't matter if you have tinted glass, you won't notice the difference in shade.

If you are looking to make a non-artwork based bezel...you can do a number of things:

- 1/2" MDF with laminate (my current method)
- Painted plexi/glass
- Posterboard between glass

etc etc
