They've been teasing (in the coolest possible way) for a few days, but it's official. (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/portal-2-gets-co-op-heading-to-xbox-360-and-pc/)
And it's Xbox 360 exclusive :'(
I can play it on my PC, but it's gonna have 2-player co-op, which just begs to be played on the sofa in front of the TV.
-
I want to see troops chasing you through portals this time.
And GlaDoS....
-
This is a triumph. I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS!!!
I look forward to the PC release of this! (Thanks again, Gary ;) )
-
I will shamefacedly admit that I didn't play the original though I have planned on buying it. I just haven't played any PC games in the last couple of years. Time to get this and prepare for the new one.
Heresy comment #2. I played Half-Life and it's sequel but didn't have the overpowering sense of awe about it that others did. I thought it was good but it didn't move me like others did. To each his own I guess.
Heresy comment #3. World of Goo bored the piss out of me.
Heresy comment #4. I played the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of my Intellivisions and a lot of Atari 2600 games. I had a SNES after college with a couple of games (NCAA Basketball, Super Mario? and X-Zero (I think it's called that)). Those are the only consoles I've ever owned. Played a few games on emulators for other systems. Told a buddy who's younger that I'd buy his used Dreamcast tonight. Should get it tomorrow.
Wow, that's a long ---smurfing--- post for me. Been drinking Vodka after working all day and getting home at 10:30 PM. Beer too. ---fudgesicle--- Xiauo. Craziest ---smurf--- on the net. ;D

Someone take his keys away.
By that, I mean his keyboard.

;D
Airplane is on. Freaking hilarious movie.

I've always argued that the game play in Portal is just fine as a one player game and doesn't need co-op tacked on. But I haven't seen Portal 2's new features yet so I'll reserve comment on it. Still excited - sequel to one of the best games ever!
Valve, as part of their teaser, updated the original Portal through Steam. There's a new achievement that involves the radio... Also, the ending was changed slightly which should play into the storyline for part two...

Thanks for the heads up. Time to reinstall it!

Do you have to reinstall it as I watched the ending and it was the same?
-
I meant reinstall it because I'd taken it off when I needed space recently.
-
If you just want to see the new ending you can view it online. But they also hid radios in each level and the radios are giving out messages . . . like in morse code and other stuff. It's pretty cool. The internet community has cracked most (all?) of it already.
-
The game is awesome enough to play through again. :)

Agreed. I played through it 4 times simply because it's so friggin' entertaining and darkly humorous.

If you have it installed through Steam (which is the only way you can have it installed IIRC), it should update automatically unless you changed options to turn off the game's automatic update. If you right-click the game in your list and choose "View Update News" you should see the following:
[-]March 3, 2010 - Portal Update Released
Updates to Portal have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.
Portal
Added valuable asset retrieval

Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations

Bah, you scared the crap out of me by saying it was a 360 exclusive. Was it even made for anything other than the 360 and PC the first time?
Also, it sounds like steam may be coming to the MacOS platform as well, along with Portal 2:

But the very next sentence after mentioning 360 exclusivity was that it will be available on the PC . . .
Also . . . Portal on PS3 (http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B000PE0HBI?tag=betteraddons-20).
-
The original was one of my absolute current gen faves!
I'm pretty psyched for this one too
Is this one going to be a full length game?

Yeah, but The Orange Box for the PS3 was a buggy mess which still has many problems that have gone unpatched.
If you're in the market for The Orange Box, PC is still your best option - especially if you're even remotely interested in TF2. It runs fairly well with a modest graphics card and still gets updated constantly.

Didn't really care for Half-Life 2... zzz... more zombies chasing you... zzzz....
Sorry you didn't like it because:
Half-LifeČ is ---smurfing--- awesome.
-
I especially liked how you had a gravity gun that could pick up cars and throw them half a mile, but you were confounded by chain link fence.
;)
You can say this sort of thing about a lot of games.
Why do I need a key for a door in Resident Evil when I have a bazooka?
-
I was giving one example. Mostly I was pointing out that you can't let nitpicky ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- like that ruin games for you.
-
Steam is up for the MAC Woo Hoo!
I hope they put Portal 2 on there
-
I am VERY excited about this. I hope they can pull it off. The original Portal is one of the best games I've ever played. The entire experience was so creative and oozed personality - just plain FUN.

I'm pretty sure it's already announced as coming to Mac.
-
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!
-
Couldn't see the obsession when portal 1 came out, after playing it a few times you begin to love it.
Its an emotional moment when you have to destroy the weighted companion cube.
I WANT A PORTAL GUN!
-

Oh come on, you didn't buy into that, did you?
I chucked it right in. Adios!
-
Yeah . . . it wasn't emotional for me at all. It was just one more hilarious aspect to a more or less continuously laugh-out-loud experience.
-
The first one, that's the ---smurfette--- of the bunch. The second is easier, but it's still no walk in the park.
Now?
Hmph, now I just do it to watch their expression change.
