wtf is this "technology" again? is this another ultra arcade wanna be dooshbag calling mame "patented arcade technology" ?
I really need to start selling pedestals with a control panel for $1600. maybe I should call mame frontends patented arcade technology that no one has! too..
-
Apparently that patent isn't working too well for him.
It has come to our attention that there are many copy-cat companies popping up everyday,
-
this guy is the biggest tool Ive ever seen. he's telling people "its not a computer". WHAT the fudge is inside then? an UFO running patented arcade technology or something dumb like that? doesnt even tell you the computer specs. for all I know is I could be getting a 2ghz celeron with 1gig ram that runs his "arcade technology". yes I am fully aware of the fact that all you are paying for is hardware and all the work that goes into building it. I dont have any problem with any of that. I just dont understand why he fails to mention whats inside these cabinets. calling other people's hard work(mame) as your "own technology" is about as low as anyone can go.
really..mame is HIS "technology" now?? ::)
-
What a dud. If the hadware runs a program, it's a computer. I guess he means it's not a PC?
It's probably one of the 60 in 1 boards (the ones were not allowed to mention here) that are produced in China and illegally distributed around the world.
-
"Ready to play". Doesn't say it comes with that many.
I couldn't find anything that says exactly what it DOES come with.
-

only $1600.
buy it now and maybe he'll throw in some other patented technology....something..not entirely sure what but you WILL get it.
-
Question is:
Whose patent are we talking about? :lol
-
My question to him:
Dear dreamhomearcades,
How do you run MAME without a computer? Since you advertise MAME, do you have a license from the owners of MAME to sell with your cabinet which is required by their license? What games are you including, and what is the license arrangements for those?
His reply:
We use a special proprietary computer board that runs our own operating system. MAME software cannot be sold so we do NOT sell MAME software. We don't charge a penny for any games...

My follow up question:
Thanks. Your ebay ad says MAME so that's confusing. What games are you including please?
Is this the list of games you're including?
http://www.dreamhomearcades.com/Game%20List/Dream%20Machine%20Games%20%28upright%29.txt (http://www.dreamhomearcades.com/Game%20List/Dream%20Machine%20Games%20%28upright%29.txt)
which is, of course, the list of games from MAME.
Waiting on an answer.

oh these clowns. does it ever end? cant believe they think people dont understand how "THIS" works. he's selling cabients with mame(which is fine as long as no games involved) and calls it "our patented arcade technology". Nicolia Salmoria really should consider suing this guy. or at least stop calling his work "our technology no else has!"
I havent been following mame for months(or years?) but "250. Capcom Vs. SNK" is playable in mame now?? thought its naomi emulation and mame didnt play naomi yet??

Selling his cab with MAME is a violation of the MAME license as far as I know unless he has an agreement with MAME-Dev.

I reported them, though with the amount of business they do on ebay, I doubt it will get pulled.
-
I've seen that Monster Arcade art on here. Is this being sold by someone from here, or is that art just being passed around?
-
nobody owns monster arcade art. whoever made it probably didnt pay for his print from mamemarquees and dont care if anyone else prints it out or whatever. in fact these little arts and mame itself configured in a cabinet is never a problem. I have a problem when random-ass "companies" like to call mame "our technology"
-
Isn't 37" wide
a bit too far for
side pinball buttons?
That can't be comfortable.
-
It's 100% legit.
He has 48 exclamation marks on that ad. And everyone knows the more exclamation marks you use in advertising, the moar imbelievably kool it is!

" If there is a game you would like to see added to our list let us know.
We test every game to make sure it functions flawlessly before it is added.
Every game on these lists have been requested by our customers
- The Best of the Best!"
oh...my..god... :laugh2:
this clown cant be serious. basically what he is saying is "just name your game and we'll add it to our technology" :laugh2: clearly he is the one emulating all these "customer requested games" and adding them to his patented arcade technology. best of the best............
there is a special place in hell for this guy.

Don't you sell illegally modified consoles?
Give it a rest, glasshouse.
its not illegal to modify a console, it may violate live TOS or warranties but modding the console AFAIK is legal; however playing illegal back ups is not.
-

no I dont. you are mistaken fatboy. now get back on the treadmill.
even if I did I wouldnt call it "my patented technology that lets you play arcade games on xbox and I invented all that".
-
technically he didnt sell an illegal console, since it's not illegal to mod... :)
-
technically he didnt sell an illegal console, since it's not illegal to mod... :)
and he said NO GAMES! as well.
-
Modding consoles pretty clearly is a violation of the DMCA. The DMCA makes it illegal to circumvent technological measures put in place to protect copyrighted works, even if the purpose of the circumvention was not to infringe copyright. Of course SNAAKE's primary purpose is to infringe copyrights and everyone including him knows it. If it weren't for that purpose he would have no market for his service. But it's neither here nor there because the law makes SNAAKE's purpose irrelevant.
Not saying that I don't mod consoles and pirate games. I'm just saying that I break the law when I do either.
-
Well so here's a perspective. I want to mod my Wii console, so I can play backups of the games I've purchased. I 100% genuinely mean that. Frankly I don't play the Wii, but my kids do and they're forever leaving discs out and scratching them up. If I could load the games onto backup media or onto a hard drive and just run them from there I'd be a happy parent. As is I have to repurchase damaged games or have the kids do without. I have zero interest in piracy.
What's the DMCA stand on that?
-
DMCA would say that is illegal.
-
And I say who cares, do it anyway. A hard drive to backup your legit games is much better than letting the kids scratch up those expensive frickin' games.
-
Haven't we all seen enough of these auctions that we know they are illegal and full of crap and have no need to post them here ?
And then to dis folks who point out that if you live in a glass house, stop throwing the rocks?
And if you are fat, then you should be on a treadmill ?
Wait, wat ?
And, yep, saint ... that is one reason why Canuckistan in on the dirty list of bad copyright countries (aka the Special Priority 301 Watchlist).

Oi, Snaack!
1. Be nice to each other. We're serious about this one. Disagree, debate, argue at will - but please be respectful. Messages that are flame-bait, hateful, racist, or otherwise pointlessly antagonistic will likely be sent to post-hell, and repeat offenders banned from posting.
-
I am not breaking any rules here.
-
Which part of respectful confused you ?
Did it not have enough consecutive vowels to make sense ?
:dizzy:
I'm sure that you remember how the last part of that particular rule works ...
-
Well it seems there is a huge conflict of interest here. :o
-
Post hell in 3, 2, 1...
-
Post hell in 3, 2, 1...
I thought we were supposed to count from 5. Damned kids and their metric system! :dizzy:
-
Hmm. Still here? Saint must have fallen through the ceiling for real this time!
-
Nah ... he's around ... he's just feeling generous today!
-
Maybe the Post Hell button is wired to a reload pedal :dunno

DMCA would say that is illegal.
Agreed. It's illegal. It should be covered under fair use. Any rational person would consider what you propose to be a fair use. But Congress has the power to define copyright law and violating an explicit provision of the law cannot possibly be a fair use.
God bless lobbyists.
-
Yeah, but I bet if you installed flat screens and 435 modded xboxes with CODMW2 in the HOUSE, they would change their mind. :-)
