In my advanced hands on tech class we are making a mame cabinet from the ground up. Everything from drafting the cabinet, to finding all the parts we need. During this process I have developed a few issues that I was hoping you guys could help me with. My first question was, how would I go about making it so I can have the computer boot straight to the mame program, second for now would be, Im using roms that were purchased from mamedvds.com, and was curious if there was some kind of front end program to make it look more appealing.

No offense, but you REALLY need to use the Search function at the top of the forums. There are tons of posts that answer your questions.
And the wiki. (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Main_Page)

A lot of questions are answered here as well:

Every classroom needs this book! ;D

Most front ends will have setting to boot straight to the game of your choosing. That mamedvds.com site just looks like they are selling DVDs of standard MAME roms so you'd likely need a front end to run them anyway (if you don't want to use the command line).

BTW, don't buy MAME ROM sets. They are freely available everywhere. Either way is illegal, but paying for it seems worse.
