Meh, it's OK I guess. It's not the first time something like this was put on eBay. I recall the following that were sold on eBay. I did try to Google archival records and found a couple to prove I'm not just handing out BS.
De-commissioned aircraft carrier. (http://www.kungfo0.org/theweb/ebay/carrier.html) It was put on eBay with the idea it might become a floating casino (generators were put in for that purpose). Unfortunataly, according to Wikipedia, this craft was sold for scrap.
An actual Blue Angels jet (http://xpda.com/f18ebay/). It was supposed to have been decommissioned and destroyed at the boneyard, but it never found its way there. Instead it found itself disassembled and stored in crates in the hands of a private warehouse owner (how it got from the AF to the warehouse was never actually clarified). I remember this one clearly because it was never properly decommissioned, sporting all of it's original mountings. For an additional fee, the seller (third party to insulate the warehouse owner) would reassemble and test the jet. No mention was ever made as to whether the mountings would be removed for a fee or whether the jet remained painted in the Blue Angels scheme. PS, just checked the guys profile http://myworld.ebay.com/mdlanda/ (http://myworld.ebay.com/mdlanda/) He's still selling military surplus stuff.
A decommissioned missile silo (http://www.ededition.com/missile-silo-for-sale-on-ebay/) in Washington state. It was on eBay as either a buy, partial buy, or a lease option. Seller was marketing it as an underground mall(?!) or a private storage facility. It got quite a bit of attention from the likes of Penny Arcade. What one could possibly do with an actual missile silo is beyond me. Launch model rockets inside? Make a bungee jumping park? It's not the first one I know of that was sold into private hands. There is another one (featured on the History channel IIRC) but that was not sold on eBay.
A decommissioned missile (I believe it was a Ground to Air, but I could be wrong) that was put on display in front of a museum. Technically I suppose it could be refurbished to be functional again, but it probably would've been cheaper to build a new one from scratch. I don't recall too many details other that it was offered for sale by the museum and it was a freaking long time ago.

A decommissioned missile silo.
check out jesse ventura's conspiracy theory show for details on what private owners are buying them up for.
it is the 2012 episode of the series.
looking at the pics on ebay I would not put my faith in being safe in that thing against something like that.
the taller smaller box in the picture looks like it would have a tuff time staying put with a way way smaller draft like a tornado passing over it wich if that blew away you probably would starve for oxygen or something becuase you needed that part.
I just would not trust that get up saying it can take something as massive as that after seeing video's on tv of the aftermaths from them :o

I used to work for a company that shared a building that had a nuke bunker. It was for disaster planning, and could house up to 20 people. It was on par with this bunker and looking at the construction I would say that the occupants would not survive a long stay after a nuke war.
Also who can also be sure if this bunker isn't still listed on some soviet cold war targeting list. Not to mention the kids that now know of its existence and will now go out looking for it.

While that looks quite cozy, perhaps for an intimate night of bisecting your nemesis in half with a slowly moving laser, it doesn't have enough square footage needed for my ultimate doomsday device, a big office chair, various redundant control panels, my aquarium filled with man-eating catfish, and 60 or so of my most expendable henchmen. When an abandoned warehouse, de-comissioned oil derek, or the classic hollowed-out volcano comes one the market please let me know as I would be very interested. :burgerking:

I used to be all over that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- a few years ago. But then I realized that A: I can't afford any of that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- anyways and that B: I was just torturing myself by looking at the things I'll never afford in the next oh.... six life times or so.
I would have loved that aircraft carrier myself. If I had it, I would have called it the Red Dwarf or something just for kicks.
Damn it! I'm torturing myself again. Damn You!!!!!!!

That is pretty close to what I'm thinking about putting in my backyard...
