I'm looking for a place that sells black laminate (in sheets i suppose?) that I can use to cover the sides of my cab. Any thoughts on where to find this at a good price?

I've been searching for that myself, here in New York. Home Depot has laminate, but they never have pure black. And you'd have to pay over twice as much over what they have in stock for them to special order it. And it only comes in 8' x 4' size.
I had originally been looking for wood grain, but since I'll be selling the games after I finish the restorations. Black is the best way to go, because even though it is not original it is more desirable to most non-collectors.

I bought mine at Rona in Ottawa a couple of years ago and covered my entire cabinet -piece by piece before assembly. It is extremely durable and never needs to be painted. They even had some electric blue colours too.
They are, however, a bit pricey. I think they were $45.00 to $60.00 per 4'ft X 8'ft sheet.

I got mine at Home Depot. It was about 55 for a sheet.

Home Depot Canada has discontinued Flat Black laminate...BUT...you can special order Wilsonart or Formica flat black through Home Depot...will cost you about $120 for a 5x12 sheet...this is larger than the standard 4x8' they stock in other colours (and used to in Flat Black) but will be enough for both sides, cp, and inside no problem.

You should call some distributors to have cheaper prices. You can check some formica distributors here :
http://www.formica.com/publish/site/na/us/en/index/applications/distributor_search.html (http://www.formica.com/publish/site/na/us/en/index/applications/distributor_search.html)
I live in montreal and the local distributor has 4x8" black sheet for 40$ca and 5x12" for 76$ca (+taxes).

Windsor plywood can also order most laminate products. The search for distributors does not do much good in Canada.

This is pretty much the exact same post as BamBam's but I bought black laminate at Rona in Ottawa last year. It was expensive but I have no idea what laminate costs so maybe it was fair.

i simply painted my sides with the messiest stuff on earth. Black oil based Rustoleum.
its held up for 7 years with every other person who comes over giving this thing a workout.
That paint is super tough especially on wood. in the time it takes to find the right laminate and hope it comes out good and lasts a while, you could just do the paint thing.
the only reason that ive ever heard people having bad results with paint is because they didnt use an industrial quality paint like the big gallon can of rustoleum.
whatever anyone does, dont use housepaint or spraypaint, the results are just terrible and then as a bonus, youve got to take it all off again.

Hi all,
I have to place my vote for laminate as well.
It is more expensive, but it's very durable, relatively easy to apply, and looks great.
When I was ready to finish my cab I purchase some flat black laminate from Home Depot
and found that it looked dull and really showed fingerprints. I settled on WilsonArt's Black
Crystal #1595-90, it's not really shiny but has a great surface and looks very original;
I paid $105 for a 4 X 8 sheet. The equivalent from other manufacturers are Arborite S405-DI
and Formica 909-42.
Regardless of what colour you go with, do laminate, you won't regret it.
Breaker.
