Title: Moving a Daytona USA Twin Arcade Unit, what do I need to know...
Post by: jtslade on February 25, 2010, 07:17:06 am
So my question(s) are in reference to safely moving a Daytona USA Twin Arcade game.

What are my biggest things to remember?

What tools will I need to partially take it apart (separate the two halves to get them up and into a moving truck)?

Anything I can do to ensure that the machine's delicate components stay safe?

any help would be appreciated!!

It's actually pretty straightforward.  The only real trick is figuring out what the last person who did it did or didn't do. ;)  I've had three twin sets and each one has been slight different in what fasteners were present in which places...and what kind of fasteners they were (screw/bolt head, etc).

I actually wrote up a sheet on this awhile back to help someone I was buying a twin set from disassemble so it could be shipped.  It had been assembled for her, and she had no idea how it all went together.  Let me see if I can locate that document and post it here.  If not, I'll try to summarize to the best of my recollection.  Stay tuned...

What do you need to know?  You need to know the address to my apartment and the combination number to my basement storage unit!

Found it!  I'm glad I'm at least that organized. :P  I'm attaching the document to this post.

I kind of skimmed over those directions and I have on thing to add that might come up.  You can remove the screws for the metal trim piece that holds the marquee front (the art) in.  Then you can reach inside the marquee box and disconnect the wires that I mention in the document.  Also, there may be some bolts in there that attach the marquee box to the tops of the monitors.  I've had unit with these bolts installed as well as missing.  But if they're there, you'll have a hard time removing the box and splitting the two halves. :)

Good luck!
