Title: Looking for Cheap/Free Cab in Maryland /N.Va area
Post by: PacManFan on July 26, 2003, 12:52:08 pm
The subject says it all. I've already built 2 mame cabs, An Upright based on Lusid's design, and a Cocktail that I'm about to give to my sister. I'm looking for my next project, and I want to try my hand at converting a "Real" arcade cab. I'll take just about anything.

Already gave away all of the decent cabs I had extra. There's a Super Auction in Cherry Hill, NJ on August 9th (Very close to Philly). I generally go to the US Amusement auctions and have picked up quite a few cabs for 10.00. I haven't tried a Super Auction Yet but may go to this one Here's a link

He's smiling because he is the reason I have no extra cabs I think... :)

I am in the N. VA area as well.

I know of a potential source but I cannot tell you in good faith that it is a sure thing.

There is a home gameroom shop owned by two partners near me. One is a total dick, you want to hit him square in the chin after being in his presence for 5 seconds. The other fellow, Paul is a nice enough person to talk to and you can tell he really loves the classics. He doesn't like MAMErs though because they always want to meet him on a SAT when he has hockey and try to bargain him down to less than the agreed upon price for a cabinet. He has offered to call me a few times when he was at his storage unit but he never followed through on it.

All that aside, he is a relatively nice fellow and I think that we can work with him to do a group buy on some cabinets.

I was also looking at getting a group together for the November Auction in Baltimore, split up truck rental or something.

Let me know if anyone is game.

Yea Birdtales, that's why I have the big grin.... :)

I have been looking around, and found a place in Baltimore

http://www.weinerd.com/

Weiner Distributing...

When I called, they already knew what I was calling about, and said the had cabs which where already gutted and ready for to be MAMED for around $100.00.

Just an FYI.

NH.

PMF- check this thread http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=10175

I'm letting another cabinet go. It's a NARC.

I found potentially another source as well for those who are interested. Capital Amusements off of Southlawn dr. in Rockville md. I gave them a call, and they said they had a few 19" cabs in stocks that they are going to throw away. I have no idea about what type of games, or the condition they are in. We were talking about 50$ per cab.

Darn.  I was down in Gaithersburg this weekend helping my brother move.  Had a 19 foot U-Haul truck with TONS of extra room.

I am pretty intent on building my own, but am interested to see what is available.  Maybe use one for the second cab we all know is coming.
