I discovered Zinc last night and was wondering if anyone was running it.
So far I have plans for:
MAME .71
Daphne
but was wondering how I could intergrate Zinc into the cabinet as well?
-
I run Zinc as well as many other emulators through the MameWah FE. All of the controls can be programmed so you don't need a keyboard (for both Zinc and MW)
-
Well, not ALL of the zinc controls can be reprogrammed. Things like the start buttons and quit are set in stone :)
-
As long as they match the MAME controls I don't care.
-
They don't match mame defaults
-
What games does Zinc run?
-
use ZincFE to setup zinc, and cofig it all, then after run it through Mamewah and you'll be set.

What games does Zinc run?
The SFEX series, Strider 2, and other 3d games. Tekken, ect.
Zinc Gui is good, the only problem is there is a bug where I believe p2 button 6 does not work....
-
Isn't the bug suppose to be fixed in the new release.

what kind of computer system specs does it take to run these zinc games smoothly?
steve

that's a bug in zinc itself, not the gui program
it will be fixed the next release of zinc

Since the boards being emulated are running versions of the PS1 hardware, I was a little dissapointed with the framerates on some of the games (noticably Rival Schools and that gigantic robot fighting one).
Running it on a P4 2.2 Ghz with 1Gb ram and a Geforce3 Ti 200 and those games slow to a 20 fps crawl.
-
your settings are screwed up then.....
i get around 50 fps on my puny 900 mhz
-
I get 60 on my Athelon 1.2 with an ATI 7000
-
i find the games run better on OpenGl for me also, but that will change dependent on your video card.
i use a 128meg Geforce 3 Ti200

The "rule" is: OpenGL for Nvidia cards and D3D for ATI cards. Seems to work. When I set the render to D3D with my RADEON 7000 I saw a good increase in speed. 50-60fps on a Duron 900 with 256MB. Not too shabby.

That's not entirely true. Older versions of ati cards do better in d3d, but anything newer than a radeon 7000 will do better in ogl.
