howdy all...
i've had my joust for two years now...
i upgraded the ram from whatever the less efficient stock ones are to the cooler more efficient ones from bob roberts a couple of months after i had it...
ever since the upgrade...joust will sporadically erase some of the highscores...maybe a third of them...always the highest one for sure...
i replaced the battery...thinking that would maybe fix it...but definitely not...
how would i go about finding out if one of the ram chips is bad...?
is that even the cause of the problem...?
thanks...!

nobody has an idea of this mystery...?

Are you running the machine on a SWITCHER? I ask because I've read that using a switcher on Williams PCB's cause this very same issue.
-
are you meaning a switching power supply...?
if so...then yes...i replaced the original power supply with a switching one from bob roberts...

That is your problem. Williams boards are known to cause this very issue with Switcher power supplies. Your only option to rectify this issue is to go back to a Williams linear power supply.

excellent to know man...
thanks for the info...!

I have to disagree with the Switcher problem. I have a friend with a Robotron with a switcher in it that works just fine. Eventually, I'll rebuild the power board for them just to get the switcher back from it but it works fine and mighty.

It's a well known issue with switchers. They work fine, but occasionally this problem can crop up.
I'd say that so far your friend has been lucky.
